When I was a kid, I kind thought she was... you know *b i r t h e d* into the world like everyone else. Birds and the bees stuff. Now that I’m much older and had read Frankenstein, the idea that she’s a reanimated corpse seems so freaking mind blowing but it totally makes sense and is very plausible. Especially when you consider that whenever humans are involved in the movies/shows, she’s always the one that tries to improve bonds between humans and ghouls *because she most likely used to be a human as well.*

There was a serious rebranding after parents started complaining that the dolls (and the cartoons based on them) were too sexualized because many of the girls wore short skirts and heavy makeup. So the character design took a heavy hit, and I imagine all the other touchy themes went away to avoid making parents angry. (Because apparently even implying racism is a thing in the modern word is enough to get parents to boycott you, nowadays.)

Here to say that the books I read about Monster High are so entertaining, and I'm a dude in my twenties. The final cliffhanger for the first book in the series is literally "I think you need to get your act together and figure out which of you is taking me to the school dance." which is so funny to me. "Frankie was made for the main character role" And she is, in this book series! Also, the other Monster High book series I read had an autistic-coded Gargoyle girl who is so precious.

Monster high was elite until the reboot fucked over the franchise so it was more "family friendly" (If we got a un-reboot of the franchize where they could do whatever they wanted I'd definitely watch it.) Same with Ever After High. The original fairytales are so dark, it would be easy to make a more mature reboot for the people who were fans as kids and are now adults. I would love to see and EAH and Monster High reboot that takes it to a darker level (like a good reboot, not something like the teen Winx reboot on Netflix). I wasn't into Monster High that much (it was cool; however, I still liked EAH better), but Ever After High was my favorite show for years! I wished that the universe was a little darker and more mature, because as you said, the original fairytales were DARK, dark as hell, and that would've been cool to see how it would've panned out in the show. (The darkest I'd say that EAH got was "Spring Un-sprung", as well as the Dragon Games). I partially read the books, and I was introduced to Monster High due to the crossover that was one of those books. Also, on a side note, I love your profile picture and username. Kitty Cheshire is my favorite character. I had a bunch of EAH dolls when I was little, though my parents forced me to give them to my little sister when I grew older, except for one doll that I was allowed to keep... I kept Kitty because I thought she was amazing. I still have her to this day. My second favorite character was probably Darling Charming, but I liked Kitty more, ha ha ha. Personally I like Electrified. Only because it's really hard to see good stimming representation. It's great to show kids that kind of thing. Would a saved me alot of guilt for "not quite" slapping my hands.

@@twist_ending7545 It's when Frankie is kind of flailing her hands to release excess electricity. Near the end she has to much electricity and become unresponsive. And her friend remembers her how she did last time. As someone who is autistic and get over stimulated easily. I can just pick that more easily. It's not obvious but it is still nice to see.

13 Wishes is one of my favorite Monster High movies. It gets dark as fuck. Howleen basically traps her friends in the lamp, replaces them with shadow versions of them, gains a fucking cult, Lagoona goes insane there’s no sugarcoating that, and then Whisp is given the opportunity to grant wishes and is still trapped in the lamp, but now she actually has NO ONE with her. She is all alone. All she wanted was a friend. Also Twyla is best girl.

I think a huge reason as to why people love monster high so much was bc they actually taught you things about society and the characters were so uncommon and unique that it was hard not to fall in love with the characters.

Sadly, these movies weren't something I grew up with but me and my sister love watching them now. These, the Tinkerbell films and the classic Barbie films are my guilty pleasures. I actually have a ton of monster high dolls just sitting in a bag waiting to be taken apart and customised lol.

I will admit I appreciate Mattel giving him a bigger body type but I was expecting him to have like a hunchback of Norte dame face. I remember when monster high first came out. I was instantly in love because Dracula was pink and a vampire, but my mother was a little on the fence because the dolls were monsters and the commercials seemed kinda "scary". Luckily I was able to convince her to watch one of the MH movies with me and my English Major mother was instantly won over by the clever monster puns that saturated the movie.

I'll admit I wasn't a big fan of the monster high dolls since I was more of an Ever After High kind of person and preferred it more, but man did I love watching the Monster High movies when I was younger. Cancelling EAH and rebooting MH was Mattel's biggest mistake. (Also the fact that Neighthon has the same VA as Kaeya I-)

I got into the fandom around 2014 (shortly before Freaky Fusion) and had quite a few dolls. Even before joining, I noticed that only the first wave had these pets that came with each one and Frankie's was a Frankenweenie-type dog named Whatzit (don't ask me how I remember). It didn't last though as I brushed it off completely between Haunted and Boo York, Boo York. And a few years later, Mom had me sell them, but then in the latter half of last year, she herself became interested because she found that people were customising their dolls, and therefore bought some from both MH and EAH (I even customised one of them into Monster from Friday Night Funkin' using clay and another similar compound). Sidenote: I also remember a review of the FF dolls from a defunct channel with a mom and her tween daughter where they made a few jokes like one about how Bonita's headwear looked like lasagna (Lasagna-Head) and calling Neighthan Rot "Neighthan Hot" (and a side joke about how he likes Hello Kitty for some reason). That and a couple other of their videos got quite a laugh outta me. Now realising some of them are LGBT+ hits different after so many years. It's just one of those nostalgic franchises that just becomes iconic over time and ages like some of the finest of wines
