The greatest political song ever recorded. I'm a staunch JLP supporter but no political song will ever beat this one. PNP tek it to Labourite in the 1970s
@bsadewitz Жыл бұрын
I'm not Jamaican, but reggae has been my favorite genre of music for 20 years, and I agree: this is definitely one of the finest. My all-time favorite, though, is "Golden Festival" by Roy Shirley. While it isn't, strictly speaking, a political song, I include it because of the good-willed, unifying sentiment which he graciously opens the song with, paying equal respect to "Mr. Norman Manley, QC ... and Mr. Edward Seaga" in his almost supernaturally mellifluous voice. He veritably sang his heart out exhorting people to "feel gooooood".

In relation to one of the most consequential lines of the song "No Bastard No deh again" communicating that Mr Manley was the one that did away with repealing the Bastard Act (in Jamaica during the 1970's; the fulsome story needs to be told that the prior JLP Government of the 1960's started the process. Kindly see the following excerpt from a article published in the Saturday Gleaner published November 08, 1969: " Senate passage of amendment to the Bastard Law was decided in the Senate as the first step on the long and important journey toward achieving equality of rights for children born in and out of wedlock. The Upper House debated the measure for some 60 minutes after the Leader of Government Business the Hon. Sir Neville Ashenheim outlined the provisions."
@71Jagurl4 жыл бұрын
And your point is? You are quick to point out that the process was started by the JLP. Why you don’t point out that many of what Andrew Holness taking credit for in 2020 was started by PNP pre 2016?

@DECHAWNSmusing4 жыл бұрын
@@71Jagurl My friend, It is either it happened has stated by the gleaner or it did not happen. We need to be honest and state both parties has contributed both good and bad to Jamaica's development. Days of tribalism are dying quickly, the soon we accept that the better Jamaica will be. Also, the PM never denied that he finished what the PNP started, I have heard him say that in parliament several times.

It's called The Message by Neville Martin but shouldn't you know that since you're listening to it!!! It was released in 1976 and was recently hijacked by the opposition party the Jamaican Labour party and used in a derogatory way.

Do you UNDERSTAND what a socialist country is? CLEARLY YOU DO NOT. Socialism has been distorted and demonized by the wealthy opposition party in order to TRICK POOR PEOPLE TO KEEP VITING GO KEEP THE WEALTHY IN THEIR COMFORTABLE POSITIONS! SOCIALISM IS WHEN EVERYONE IS GIVEN SAME OPPORTUNITY OF HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT ETC… EVERYONE IS PROVIDED FOR . NO HOMELESS NO HUNGRY EATING PUT OF TRASH BINS NO SICK PEOPLE WHO CANT AFGIRD MEDICATION LIKE INSULIN AND OTHERS ! Socialism WORKS!! It is in CANADA, ENGLAND, SEESEN, SWITZERLAND, FRANCE , ALL OVER EUROOE AND SOME CARRIBEAN COUNTRIES LIKE BARBADOS AND GRAND CAYMAN. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! Socialism everyone gets the same medical coverage and treated the same rich or poor! Everyone is able to use same pharmacy card and get medication needed at much lower rate. In AMERICA the RICH STAY RICK because they make money off the POOR!! And the poor uneducated vote Republican in Jamaica JLP and they still don’t get ahead and promised never maysrialize

JAMAL FREE BASIC SCHOOL FOOD PROGRAM CUBAN DOCTORS / Nurse Housing program NATIONAL HOUSING TRUST MINIMUM WAGE EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN AND so many other programs that benefit POOR AND MIDDLE CLASS !! So educate yourself on benefits of socialism and most economy ally STANLE COUNTRIES ALL OVER EUROPE THAT HAVE SUCCESSFUL SOCIALISM! Socialism is PROGRESSIVE! Soo me of you people just don’t want progress!
