The thing that gets me about laughtracks is theyre all slightly different between studios. The Seinfeld era of laugh tracks, CBS's late night laugh tracks, Nickelodeon 2000's vs. 2010's laugh tracks, even between their own studios like Schneider shows vs. their other content, Disney laugh tracks through different eras. They have subtle nuisances that reflect the time, from the audacity of each laugh, length of applause, length of gasps. ...My parents let me watch way too much TV as a kid and I may have been dropped on my head as a baby.

American Dad! Is still the peak of Seth McFarlane's creations because instead of succumbing to the seasonal rot Family Guy has, the writers of that show leaned harder into the more surreal elements of the show, so it can have genuinely great Halloween specials like Rabbit Ears despite being almost 20 seasons long. It's also good at making episodes where the whole of the Smith family clearly genuinely care for each other despite Stan being a jerk or Roger being selfish and I think that's an element of early Family Guy that was vital for the formula to "work" long-term.

I actually watched The Big Bang Theory for several years and enjoyed it. I felt it got better as it went along. When I was younger and didn't know better, I enjoyed a good deal of the offensive humor in the early episodes. Years alter seeing them in reruns, I cringe wondering why I thought it was so funny for Howard to be imitating Raj in a racist fashion or imitating Steven Hawking in an ableist fashion. I used to not understand the hate for Big Bang, but upon reading criticisms aimed at media more generally regarding say, misogyny, racist humor, homophobic humor, etc with Big Bang often being an example. I began to understand some of it. I watched Young Sheldon it's entire run and loved it, more so than The Big Bang Theory. It benefits from being a single camera show with more dramatic heft compared to the more formulaic multi-camera sitcom set up of Big Bang. The characters are better and the character development is better and the humor is better and often funnier. It's actually really well written.

@@Cyberfan2167 from what I've seen of Community, which isn't much, it's at least a much better representation than BBT. It feels much more like he has a hard time understanding neurotypicals and vice versa. Which is true for many autistic people. Although if there are things blown out of proportion I'd love to hear it so I can make a better judgement

I still maintain that Family Guy, at least post-cancellation, is at its peak when its just an animated sketch comedy show parodying real life. A lot of the cutaways without any of the cast, or jokes that are told to the audience by something like a TV or radio in the Griffin home, tend to be some of the best-written of the later seasons.

I've always loved Friends. I don't understand how people (usually my age) hated it, I found myself super invested in their story and rewatching many episodes. Sure some of the jokes were bad, but it's very on-brand with the humor back then so you can't be too upset with it, that's just how people were back then

At first, I didn't really like Young Sheldon just because of how bad I heard The Big Bang Theory was, but then I saw my sister watch it, and as I do with her shows, I joined in and realized how good it was. However, my mind will never be erased from that one meme I saw about how every sitcom family is just the Afton family from fnaf

I think that the Ross and Rachel situation is less a matter of "ohhh who's wrong who's right" and more that nobody should be seen as in the wrong or in the right. They were on a break, and they both ultimately REBOUNDED because they were hurt and seeking a comfort and intimacy that they lacked. The fact that Rachel stopped at a point before Ross did doesn't make a huge difference to me personally. As someone who has been cheated on in the past, I don't think either of them did anything objectively wrong so much as that two people made emotional decisions and then, much as you said yourself in this very video, they didn't communicate them as thoroughly as they could've/should've because "where's the compelling plot in that?". Great video over all, just had to give my two cents as someone with an unhealthy obsession with FRIENDS and as someone who's been cheated on, since I think that latter thing gives me a somewhat interesting perspective.

When I was in middle school I took a broadcasting class (which was basically the class where we got to live stream the morning news to the entire school) and the teacher for that class has a Sheldon Cooper cardboard cutout that she keep in the classroom. The fact that the amount of people who have one is more than one is quite crazy to me I must say.

When i was like 11. My parents asked me what we should watch on the tv and i saw that Friends was on. The episode that was playing was the one where one of the guys gets handcuffed to an office chair by a girl and she locks him in there. I remember my mom going: "Is this really for kids?" and i responded with "idk". I haven't touched the show since. also melody nosurname plush when?

So she goes up to a random woman and asks her name, the woman says "Amanda", and Phoebe???? says "Oh I get it! A-Man-DUH! HAha, come on, we need you over here"

when I hear people talking about how much they hate sitcoms like Family Guy or even the Simpsons just because they're crude and have too many lazy jokes, I'm reminded of the people who couldnt accept that William Shakespeare existed because his plays were too good to be written by a poor person also, my real life friend who hates both shakespeare and family guy with the same, weirdly high, amount of passion
