Rachel has her home in Tennessee while VoicePlay is based in Orlando. For her to be able to join on a permanent basis she would have to relocate her family to Orlando. The likelihood of this happening is very slim since she is a very successful realtor in Nashville. However I'm very sure that there will be many more collabs with her and VoicePlay in the future.

I feel like Rachel Potter never got the recognition she deserves as an amazing vocal talent. Her control, pitch, ability to capture the emotion of the moment, etc is just so far beyond so many "mainstream" signed artists. I also second the motion already raised to have her become a permanent member of VoicePlay...
@eolsunder6 ай бұрын
you have 2 different types of singers. Those that get recognition are those that do their own songs. There are zillions of singers that do covers, and sing others songs. Rachel is a great entertainer and singer just based on how long she has been doing songs and events, shows, etc. But no matter how good you sing, you don't get recognition by doing covers and singing songs that others make. Rachel sings better than Brittney of course, many singers do, but guess who does their own songs. Thats right. NOT Rachel. You have that small 1% of talent that are entertaining, do original songs, etc The Pinks, Christinas, Spears, Cher, Madonna, Adele, etc who are the top tier. Then you have the singers that do covers to their songs and don't do original top hits. That is most everyone else. There is a slim another 1-3% who do their own songs but just don't have that star entertainment quality but do have the ability to do their own unique stuff and their own songs. So. most fall into Rachel catagory.. good singers and entertainers but they just do other peoples work.

While the music in this medley is incredible, for me the accolades truly belong to the visuals. The lighting is so beautiful, so golden, so atmospheric, and compliments the impeccable set perfectly. The costuming is unbelievable (and yes, I even love the ponytail and mustache 😉). -Layne throwing his hat and swinging his cane (in time to drum hits, activating the spotlights (0:38)) are two brilliant moments as the hat and cane go beyond the confines of the music box. The couple of times the lighting dims to almost darkness, the characters are more still, and feet not moving whatsoever…all of those elements really sell the “figurines in a music box” illusion. Even the musical choices serve the visual elements. It seems to me like the arrangement doesn’t go as low as a lot of VP songs - on purpose to keep it lighter, like a circus atmosphere? -Right after the transition, as soon as it zooms in to the characters at 0:11, the circus barker and the sounds of the outside world are no longer audible. It’s like we, the audience, have entered the world of the music box. -At 0:45, the ticking clock sounds pan from right to left and back again, a subtle yet cool effect and that, along with the incredible kaleidoscope of beatboxing (1:49), was like being at a circus and having my attention drawn this way and that. -The arpeggio elements throughout continue the music box feel: 1:17, 2:00, 3:15, 4:02. -The barbershopper in me really appreciated the nice vowel matching on “me” at 3:06. -At 3:31 Geoff’s slide was a unique way to enter the new key. -Meshing of the lyrics of Rewrite the Stars and Never Enough at 2:37 “all the stars we steal from the night sky” with “rewrite the stars” underneath was brilliant (I especially appreciated that both lines contained the word “stars” 👏🏻) along with the call back to A Million Dreams at 2:57. At 2:47, the change of lyric to “Can I ever be enough” totally changes the message of the song. I’m so impressed when an arranger takes a song and imposes a new meaning onto it, shaping it into a completely different work of art. Layne, thank you for this virtual trip to the circus. I could almost smell the popcorn and taste cotton candy. 🎪

As a huge fan of the movie I would say - it's GREAT! It keeps the very soul of the movie, it's uplifting the breath and the mind, you literally feel the same after-movie taste. That's all about the video concept and the arrangement, it catches, it has the life and the movement and it leads you exactly to that feeling. This arrangement feels something like photographic mosaic, when many parts together give you the whole picture in the deepest mind. Now all the the earworm emotions - Rachel! You are our precious jewel, a pure nightingale, you fill with your beautiful voice the whole musical box aka our small world, you uprise this mini-musical level to the sky! Layne - Layne singing! We have a chance to hear your heartily singing again, your gentle voice is melting me. Eli - your raspy voice is astonishing, this is something new, am I right? Your singing here is incredibly beautiful and powerful, you actually lead this medley together with Rachel! Geoff - your amazing voice is pure pleasure, all the colors of your range, Cesar - you are my eyes and ears candy. Thank you guys for a wonderful Christmas and New Year present for us all! Going to rewatch this about a million time. And every single time I feel that uplifting spirit :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, with a feast for your eyes and ears I give you the most entertaining a cappella group on the planet, Voiceplay!!! This was awesome. The music box visual was so damn creative, costumes were great (Rachel looked beautiful) and there are not enough words to describe how wonderful you all sounded, those harmonies get me every time. Thank you and Happy New Year, can't wait to see what amazing creations you bring us next year!🙂💜

It never ceases to amaze me how they can stun you with an excellent mix of vocals and visuals and yet, they STILL manage to top it with their next production. Is there no end to their talent?

So so good! I've been following VoicePlay's evolution since the Sing Off in 2013 and they've grown so much! Their arrangements are neat, the backing vocals delightful and creative, the rythm section is solid, the solos are really beautiful. I really hope that Cesar sticks with them, and a fifth permanent singer would be great, female if possible. Anyway, I'm really impressed and happy for them!

A female singer would be a nice contrast to the guys. I love Rachels voice though, it's really a perfect contrast, I think they would be hard pushed to get a female singer who can sing like she does. Also the only person so far who can actually drown out Eli's voice, she has really got some serious power.

Risky... a medley cover of one of my favorite musicals. A successful effort; but, then again, you are always respectful of the original artists and do them proud. I look forward to seeing what you do next in 2022. Stay safe, stay healthy, one and all.
