I will honestly never understand how this movie didn't win a single award. Not from a fan point of view, but plain common sense. I don't think it got the coverage it needed and deserved. Literally one of the most amazing movies I've seen in so long, I was so surprised by this film. The music was so beautiful, like there's not really any words to justly describe it. I'm just so incredibly disappointed in the light that hasn't been shone on this. It's a work of art, and honestly has revived my hopes in the film industry. Because here lately so many films get hyped up and 90% of them are such major letdowns than what we expected. I love movies and music so I always try new things no matter what, but this film was such a breath of fresh air. Everyone in the world deserves and needs to see this, at least once.

I loved his wife in this film. Like you can clearly see him staring at people with more money, the people in the fancy restaurant, the disappointment when he sees their tiny apartment, but his wife drags him away every time. @Scott898785 жыл бұрын
The movie's focus and direction was off. They nailed the musicals but the plot was screwy. The big love set up in this scene, was never followed up very good. The movie's focus changed to the circus. While he has a potential affair and his wife sings about a tightrope, and eventually culminates in the "From now on", scene, it just doesn't feel like all these pieces were tied together right.

But yeah you’re right, I honestly couldn’t care less if it were historically accurate, movies are supposed to be a place where you can get emotionally involved in a fictional character (most of the time at least) and if this P. T. was fictional and only loosed based on the real one I really couldn’t couldn’t care less if I’m able to get emotionally involved.

@antioneeverett44166 жыл бұрын
Quinn Blogs I guess your point was she loved him for him and wanted the simple life. He loved her but hated where he came from and wanted status and respect above all else. For him and his daughters. Almost lost Charity because of it. She saw Barnum slowly pulling away. She still trusted him despite seeing something somewhat developing between him and the opera singer. Charity was the most likable because she was the most non superficial female I have seen on screen for in a long time. They don't make too many women like that these days, particular coming from wealth. They do exist.
@notallwhowanderarelost5486 жыл бұрын
Quinn Blogs while she did say that, I think it meant that a lot of people would rather be rich because it's the safer route. You don't have to worry about lack of food, proper shelter, etc. Having wealth provides what you need and more. But Charity is okay with living a life of no wealth, it's like the sea, it can be rough sometimes, but the time spent is more enjoyable. The old house in a million dreams? Charity loved it, even though it's run down and old.

I would have made him at first only haveing eyes for the apple itself, after grabbing it, seeing her for real, not covering or recoiling from her looks, but brimming with held back tears and thankfulness over the kindness. Also I would have liked to see some really hard closed eyes like trying first to hold back tears of frustration after the bread was bulled away from him. Still I think they as children is really great and I think really the best part of the movie.

I love that so many people appreciate Charity in the comments but I also wanna put it out there how heartbreaking Barnum's story was. From the slap to the whole song's sequence, it's heartbreaking how much he had to suffer as a literal child, how his dreams and Charity were the only things he had. It's true to life for a lot of children out there born and raised into poverty who cant even afford to have a dream. Listening to the song makes me think of a child who's desperately hanging on to their dream in order to endure reality.

More so to show an act of love of which he never forgot. I almost wonder if something similar happened to the real PT, which is why he had a heart for the deformed and disliked. Many say he used them for money, and it's true - he did make money with them. BUT, he gave them purpose. He gave them careers. When the circus shut down in 2016, many who worked it, including the 'freaks' were left without the career PT's dream created for them. It's not easy to find work when you don't fit in physically with society. I think this scene sums all of that up.

@user-ib1nx6rw3z3 жыл бұрын
One thing I like about this scene is if you think about it in a different viewpoint. They never really specified if he liked Charity ever since they were kids. He could’ve loved her but not in the way he loved her when he got older. That could’ve just been his best friend. Her letters could’ve saved him in the bad times. Over time it could’ve just came to him that he loved her and that there was no one else in the world who made him feel the way he does when he’s with her. So listening to this song in that viewpoint kinda just makes it more, magical.
