I find out 5 years later what caused your engine to fail on the freeway. That was a great video though, especially the moment it blew up and then you had to push your DR200 to the next off ramp. You sweated your ass off, finally got it off the road and then rested under a shade tree. Good times.

Sean, I love your video and definitely love your bike. I am retired and live in Republic of Panama. Most motorcycle's here are lightweights. 125's. 100 cc models as well. I have a 2018 Honda XRE 190 ABS enduro style motorcycle and I just love it. Before that I had a Yamaha 125 YBR. I use my bike quite a bit but mostly I use my Yamaha BWS 125. I do not have a car. Lightweight motorcycle's and scooters are a way of life in the third world. Cheap to buy and cheap to use. And very dependable. I appreciate you showing off your light wieght motorcycle and showing folks how fun they are and how practical they are for basic transportation. I have been riding lightweight motorcycles for many years. I love them.

This is a PSA and a wakeup call to every motorcycle company. People aren't getting into motorcycling because we've been hypnotized into thinking that bikes need to have 200 hp or 2000 cc's. That is exactly why the newest of my 3 bikes was made in 1981.

Just got a 2003 for my girlfriend, she's learning to ride, 62 years old. The blue is so much cooler than our yellow one, but ours was FREE ! Yes, free, with a clear title, 4000 miles, it was just ridden really hard and low on oil. Cam chain broke, 2 burnt rocker arms, and a little scuffing in the cylinder. Everything mics out fine, bottom end is perfect. So for around $250, and my time, she'll have a awesome little first bike. I have my Harley Dyna Superglide and 2 GSX-R 1100 Suzuki, and my MANCUP NITROUS SUZUKI 1425, the 200 will be right at home in our little garage. THANKS FOR SPREADING THE GOSPEL !!! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS. SEE YOU IN THE WIND! 🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸

I learned to ride in the early 90s on a Yamaha DT200 (250?) on my summer vacation on a Greek island. And it was the perfect beginner's bike. Even though it might have been a bit too powerful for me at the time (you could pull wheelies in second gear, no problem), but the riding position, ergos and flickability were great. And if you dropped it it wasn't a big deal, either. Most of the stuff was bendable plastic and if something did break, it didn't cost an arm or a leg to fix.

I bought a new unsold 2017 DR 200 last month at the local Suzuki dealer that had it discounted to $2900. I had a SP 200 back in the late 80's and loved it, the only difference between the old SP and the DR is the DR has electric start which is nice but I wish they would've left the kick start on just in case the battery goes flat. But yes the bike is slow but because the DR is so light weight you can throw it around and do things I was unable to do with the big KTM 640 I recently got rid of. I have much much more fun offroad with the DR200.

Learnt on this bike (250cc version). Take a 3/4"' (the exhaust pipe diameter) and drill out the first two baffles in the muffler and you will drastically improve your ''out of the turn'' power and torque and won't need to drop down a gear. Makes the bike so much nicer to ride..

my brother got one of these recently and I'm only 10 but I can reach everything like the clutch, rear brakes, front brakes, shifter and all the pegs so if he can fix it up he'll give it to me when I'm 12. They are great bikes, my moms favourite part is that their really quiet. My favourite part is the size because if I already knew how to ride a dirt bike I could easily ride the 200, but the only bike I have is a broken baja 50cc dirt runner that my brother got for me used, but he couldn't fix because it needs a new carb so he's just gonna get a new carb for it and hope for the best.

Anyone who has ridden in steep technical slow terrain knows with a 4 stroke its the time between power pulses. The Yamaha IT 200, Kim 200,etc.are like riding an electric bike. Super light And with a talented rider, can kick butt. And the motor in the DR sounds just like those. It takes a lifetime of riding and loosing your ego to realize this. Ride on.

Fun little bike after a couple of mods. It comes very lean from the factory making you lose a considerable amount of power. So a carb swap to a directly actuated one like PWK or Mikuni Vm or TM, air box and exhaust mod will transform this bike completely

I’m thinking of getting one of these for my first bike, they sell them as road legal farm bikes with all kinds of helpful bash bars and rear rack for hay bales and they look really cool, very utilitarian! I was thinking of something like a Honda cb500x but for half the price I can have one of these which will be much less precious and potentially too powerful for a newbie. I "think" that's basically the same bike as the SP125 / SP250 wich is the street version of the DR that started in 1982. Back then, all the street ones were SP. All the dirt ones were DR. If so, 40 years shows the strength of the design. The Army used the DR 125 as a scout bike. Same reasons. Went over all terrain. 100 mpg. Reliable. Quiet.

Its one of the slowest 200cc dual sports from the Factory. Rip out that god awful bst31 carb and throw it in the trash then install a OKO D/Flatslide and you got a pretty peppy bike for the displacement. @@eddiemcg vacuum slide carbs never work right without the airbox the slide is calculated to the volume of the airbox. unless they swapped to a Flat slide carb with no vacuum diaphragm then the bike will never run right no matter how much tuning you do. this bike has the stock carb on it with stock exhaust and everything, running no air box is a performance loss.
