You can make quite powerful engine out of it.. But it's diy.. You can make it 270cc with Lt250s top end but it would require machining.. The least you can do is buy a lt230s or Lt250s quad sport camshaft.. That should give 3-5 extra Hp

Making it big for me would mean just buying more of the most roached things I can find, and spending more time on this, traveling to different areas and events. I also wouldn't mind dabbling in some of the cheaper new stuff like KLX230R, chinese bikes, etc, but that's a little less entertaining to me than straight up roaches and rejects.

Gabe, I wouldn't care much about a DR200 video if it wasn't someone like you standing on the foot-pegs. You are a talented rider with decent mechanical skills and a lot of heart. You are riding a super-affordable old scooter that would otherwise be completely inadequate for the challenge. You have a compelling story and shoot good video. You also tell your story well. I am happy to do what little I have to help. Best wishes, good luck & Die Trying ! -Dave Martin
@shockadellick3 жыл бұрын
@noyopacific Not to take anything away from Gabe's ridding abilities, but when you say it's totally his riding; unaware of the facts, you just dismissed his technical know-how and his abilities to see pass the common guy. Let me explain, since FrickinJim/Gabe single-handed put the CRF230F on the map, we now have tons of COPY-CAT KZbinrs destroying Race Ready R's on their simple CRF230's. Gabe had insight, courage, and ability to do what others never thought possible. The guy is innovative in insight. Due to him, those of us that don't want a high RPM grenade bike now have alternative options. Yes it's is part to do with his riding skills; however, he develops what most think are trashcan bikes, and in one sweep exposes the high RPM KTM's, CRF/R, RMZ, for what they really aren't. Yes he alone has closes the gap between race bikes and trail bikes. Don't steal his insight.

I will sound melodramatic... But it is what it is. Your video made me think about a lot of things. I feel like I have to write them, like I feel the urge of writing them even tho I don't usually comment much on KZbin. First, I was not warned that you had new content by KZbin and it it a freggin shame ( on both my channels). You put out quality content and you deserve more recognition my man! I was excited to see that you had new videos and I am not dissapointed after watching... WOW it's a good channel. Watching this video... I always knew you were the underdog kind of person and realized you had your fair share of challenges and pitfall before but I just realized this time that some people just have a ton of resiliance it's crazy. You are this kind of person. It's admirable and you inspire me a lot. I had some set back lately, I moved, I didn't had the chance to keep the same kind of quality job as before. Ultimately after a summer of posting videos and discovering my passion for putting content for other to enjoy without gaining anything else than thumbs up back... I had to sell the DRZ. I couldn't afford it anymore. My dad bought me an old SP250 so I can ride with him in the trails near his cottage and I see a lot of your DR in this bike... I ride with the boys with 450's and KTM and they can't believe how well the little bike fly with me on it. I started putting SP250 content and realized that people dont care much about the bike you are riding as long as you stay entertaining. I was looking for a 250X or an older KTM lately (without the money... I was more checking them on craigslist to hurt myself just a little more) But your little project just gave me a second breath. I think I will stay on the old trashy SP for a while. Maybe you didn't think about helping somebody with your video but you actually helped me. It made me feel better. That's pretty freggin cool from a motorcycle channel! Keep up the good work.

Went with a 13t in the front since it won’t be seeing the highway. Dropping the foot pegs 1” down and back changed the way it handles in the deep and loose sand for the way better. Also this is by far the worst cv carb I’ve ever had. The one on my Harley I only had to set up once, 10k miles ago. This one is out of whack every other time I ride it(no vacuum leaks or anything) so I’ve been looking at Atlantic trials for a decent oko along with a home job p&p. +1 on the slipping mechanism 🤣 I can barely clutch up the front wheel from a standstill.

@@charmando641 Thank you. I did that, but also put about 1" spacer in top for pre-load, and added an ounce of oil to each fork. Was a HUGE improvement, cannot describe how much better. But still that was an amateur attempt, I want to see what the smart people do.

@@potatopobobot4231 There are critical reasons why there isn't going to be a "next bike" for me, the XT225 is truly my end game, the only bike that fits my needs that I can reasonably dual sport here in BC Canada with our stupid laws. So that leaves me asking how much better can it be if I do spend the money for valves, springs and a shock? Is it worth it, if there is no other option?

This is incredible!!! Love it! I’m a poor bastard just like you Brother and really enjoyed watching you crush all those rich KTM riders 😛 would love to see you do this with a WR 250 R which is another tuned down motor but much better suspension than the DRZ. I’d also love to see you race an old air cooled KDX 200 against all these rich kids!!!! You are a great rider , good luck with everything and stay safe!!!

I have a 2015 DR 200 and it handles great and had never bottomed out. It's not a race bike but it does 70 mph. I think it's a great trail bike .

Hi Gabe, awesome video once again, your content is so good. Question about your carb: was your new flat slide carb the same diameter as the original one? How would you make a carburetor fit into an intake manifold which is too big for it? Looking at installing a 28mm flat slide on my '86 dr250 which came stock with a 34mm CV. I'm using your videos as a guide in a way haha. Cheers, greetings from NZ

Does throwing a performance carb make the equivalent for an ecu flash on a fuel injected bike? or is there more performance gains on carbbies ?
