Once I lost to someone that simply raly his quick factory with reactor to my second base and won the game doing only mines ;-; I know I did some pretty big mistakes, but no units can actually win doing this kind of thing, quick roach all in for instance need to mass first, then attack.

There are two major differences: - I get permission from all the tournaments (I reached out to the head of the ROG tournament a few days ago and got approval). According to him, no other channels reached out - We actually make cuts during the highlights. It's less apparent in this highlight, but normally we cut down a 25 minute game into a 13 minute highlight. The other channels upload the entire thing without any cuts. Cheers!

The entire time the targeted muta was in range of the mine, long enough for the mine to make the shot. If he went straight for the kill or backed up enough to break the targeting he would've killed the mine in time.

byun's strats are incredible. ive never seen before all of terran/protoss player matched with serral stuck their forces on point. however byun splits their army to many groups, byun progresses their forces one by one, you might see only few bio units attack and stop serral's income. that progression gets byun's forces longer to take center of a map - keeps them not be surrounded by serral's main forces, helps to back up against serral's zergling counter.

Everyone always has their own playstyle. Serral would be the guy who loves using ling/bane/muta/ultra or ling/bane/hydra rather than hydra/lurker and I wouldn't blame him for that playstyle because it could always work.

Бьян великолепно нивилирует главный недостаток терранов - низкую мобильность и успевает шикарно ставить мины против самой мобильной расы. Widow mine kind of deserve it, even in PvT it is quite impossible to deal with it effectivily. You know they are there, you know they will lock in yout units and explode everything but even focus fire doesn't work sometimes. 0,3 more seconds to shoot would be enough so mines wouldn't be as strong as it is to harass and in straigh up fights like they are rn.

Also, I don't have too much problem with widow mines at my skill level, most bio+mines players forget to burrow them, but I watched most of this tournament and widow mines are just too much cost efficient against the other races. They cost +25 than bannelings but does way more dmg, are ranged and have twice their amount of health. If you wanna compare to Protoss, let's look at disruptors. These guys require robo bay cost 150/150, require micro, aren't cloaked and, while having only twice the amount of health one mine have, the time they take to explode are easily 10 times the amount the mine require. Mines are just too good for too little.

The mines in this game were so good. I don't know if it's the lag or if ByuN's placement is just the best, but man was this painful for Serral. You can see him losing his composure twice then outright rage-quitting the game at the end (though ByuN had too much at the time.

I understand the resource inefficiency of ling bane but its supply efficiency is insane. Even the trades that are really good of terrain just result in a supply parity but any slip results in a loss of so many marines that zerg gains an unassailable supply lead. I obviously also appreciate the skill that goes into zerg getting that efficiency but I feel terrain needs some more high skill cap counter play to ling bane muta

@@adamyong6766 well aside from just micro it makes tactical sense, sending a group of units to harass a mineral line, should not be distracted by a single marine or spine or cannon or whatever. Like a general should be able to tell their soldiers that they are to focus non-military

No, that is not how RTS should work. RTS has its own depths in it. Creating something like that only removes a good element of controlling your army. You play RTS to control them, not to let them control themselves by the gimmicky mechanic. It will be a bad option for RTS or even any other genres.

It would require way less micro to harass, which would make most harass options really broken. Zealots and Lings run bys are already pretty awesome in the late game. Also, you can focus fire workers, so you can make your troops focus on the economy, but it requires precise and constant micro while it isn't that effective, making it balanced enough and giving stationary defense a reason to exist. It is already really trash because it is tanky, so their main use is slowing harass and all ins.

Generally no, usually best to kill units with highest threat. Marines attacking a high HP building should shift their focus to defending zerglings cause that’s guaranteed damage. Highest threat to life. Marines should target mutas before corrupters, and mutas would target marines before tanks. Changing this narrative just adds confusion. Also sometimes workers are used defensively to soak fire from units, I’d rather have my units still target their units rather than the workers.

This game exposed Serral’s critical weakness. He usually trades in losses so he balances the loss by doing zerglings and muta run by to gain huge economy income advantage. In this game, ByuN defended the run by pretty well which took away Serral’s chance to turn the game around

No, byunn just denied creep. Serral could barely go on the offensive outside of harrassment. Without creep serral couldn't engage byunns army at all. Even with infestor in play zerg is dependent on creep.

seral critical weakness? maybe is the weakness of the race? is a swarm race who work good when you mine more of your opponent and have more units, is inevitable to trade at a loss, if zerg can consistently trade equally while having a swarm race/unit composition would be terrible imbalanced

At 22:35 Serral had 12 mutas and 1 overseer. First of all Mutas had to one shot a mine to prevent explosion. 12 mutas are enough for this but First mine was lucky that he saw it late. When he Turn to stack up mutas to shoot, he got hit by mine. That is 1/3 of muta health. Second mine exlpoded like a slap to the face because that 2 mutas was not in position and shoot late. That spend 2/3 of muta health. Third one is the same as second Mutas couldnt shoot together. That was all the health of mutas. Fourth mine exploded because of that overseer went further maybe a misclick. That is the way to kill 9 mutas and a overseer.

I think you are a little off. He activates the first mine without attacking it, the second mine goes off as he is attacking the first mine thats already fired, 3 mutas have died now and he does not have enough to one hit mines anymore thus takes the third mine shot, realizes late he cannot one shot anymore and tries to flee the last mine but it connects.

Its want really that close. Serral was fighting hard but he was at a major disadvantage with byunn denying so much creep and the WM. Zerg literally cant engage without creep and the mines being so cost efficient did him in.

theoretically, once the creep between bases were removed, Serral made no attempt to restore it, nor did he attempt to fight harder to keep it fixed. (i.e. spines and spores would have nullified widow mines from entering such crucial space. 500 bucks worth of static defense (5) vs 20 zerglings? you pick). (see constant dog fight at 9:04 and how Serrals grip of the area waned - focusing on muta harass about the same opposite side) whereas Byun had a turret in a right place which I saw made Serral hestitate. 28:33. determined to kill turrets over workers but not this (that turret at 22:43, though not used) Serral power moves: 13:48 25:01 (was pyrrhic, because Byun was unrattled. Rather than taking this center core, destroy the base at the bottom). thereafter, Serral was a husk lurking about powerless to turn the tide. (25:47, 27:41, 28:02 guerrila, 27:52 creep and changeling)
