Insane one man show. Please update When he shakes the car out on the Track.
@GlassTopRX76 жыл бұрын
A motivated kid with a very wealthy mommy and daddy. I agree with Doug it's mostly show. That engine with a 10k redline on the track wont last much more than a few heat ups and cool off before the block is warped from the crazy piston speeds. A real track car would have moved oil scavenging tanks inside the wheelbase
@davidmurphy12076 жыл бұрын
Way more show than go. The other comments are correct. It'll tear itself apart or warp in no time. There is a reason all the other cars on the track are not built like this. It's because it's not a good design for function. Oh well the engine bay looks interesting.
@GlassTopRX76 жыл бұрын
In the video around 10:10 he says it's a Dart LS next block, those will only support a bore of 4.220 iron, he also said it displaced 400ci, so we know more or less what the stroke is 3.56" more if it's aluminum block. That is not a short stroke. At 10k that's a piston speed ~6000fpm, that is way too fast for anything besides being a dyno queen. Every NASCAR team running about 5100fpm piston speed, ruins a block every race from piston wall warping due to heat. The max piston speed to retain respectable reliability is around 4700fpm or a stroke of no more than 2.85" at 10k. @Keith Peterson
@GlassTopRX76 жыл бұрын
I don't need to know the stroke length, he said the engine displaced 400 ci in the video, I know the max bore size the block will take so it's not hard to figure out what the shortest stroke he could have used to achieve 400ci, math yo. Rod length which can also be determined easily isn't relevant to the piston speed issue I pointed out. There is no metallic cylinder sleeve material that can handle that kind of heat for any length of time. Even F1 when they revved to 18k only had piston speeds around 5000fpm. Also nearly all those engine shops build dyno queen engines, many of those build legit race engines as well. This engine would be fine at those revs for drag racing but not for track use where it would it would stay between 8-10k most of the time.

As did I. If I ever got in trouble, my dad would lay out a plastic bed liner from his GMC Sierra he had around after he had a liner sprayed in and I would have to fill the liner up with dirt. After I was finished, I would have to fill the hole in. I had to do that all before I went to school, so there were plenty of extremely early mornings. I didn't like disappointing my parents but I didn't mind the work because it made my arms strong which helped since I raced BMX. Could be one of the reasons I beat everyone in my age class at the 2004 Grand Nationals. I was the only person in my class that could carry enough speed to jump the massive double that brought you into the first turn. Having enough upper body strength to pull for a jump that large was the reason I shut down and rolled the last straight's rhythm section in the main and still stayed out in front. Almost everyone's front rim had cross laced spokes for extra strength but I was one of a small group who ran straight laced spokes on the front rim. Running titanium spokes instead of the normal stainless steel helped keep the strength and helped keep the rim true. I also ran carbon fiber forks and it would have been a nasty sight had I ever front nose cased anything which I watched happen plenty of times.

A couple of years ago he had to have open heart surgery and I only visited him in the hospital once. I couldn't bring myself to see someone I think of as indestructible in the state he was in after surgery. If something like that was to ever happen again, I'd visit him as much as I could even if it broke me down into tears. WOW !!!! That Trans Am was always a beauty to me , but right now i am impressed with not just the car itself , but also the skill set of this guy ... Super capable , super creative and super perfectionist , otherwise this would look like just another old car that was "updated" but this ...looks like it was designed this way !!!! Just WOW ! Riley you are the man for this job , you are talented bro ! well done !

One of the best parts about this kids?? Everything thing he says about any part on this car. Not only does he know Theory he knows fax to. I’m an engine builder from way back. This kid knows what when where & why on this motor. Really 16 to one.. with 10,000 RPM and it stays together. He knows what he put in the motor. Why he put it in the motor & why he put it in the motor. And the bit part. What it does to the motor. Very smart young man!!!

Like what? Nausea? It's everywhere, could have at least been somewhat symmetrical to match the rest of the car. Hopefully he at least made it equal length for all of the trouble.

@@BeardMan01 an 8 to 1 on a pushed back engine. Do you have any fab knowledge to understand how difficult this would be to accomplish. Or do you send your car to the mechanic to do everything for you . If you don't get it maby your just too old. Don't watch channels you don't like in future. Have a shit day

I had to go back and see this again..this car is just insane..the talent this guy has is just on a whole different level than some of the best builders in the world..also the 16.25 compression level is just crazy!! Diesels are like 18:1!!!.. they say there is no replacement for displacement but compression level plays a HUGE part in making power and torque..

my guess is he has a very good job or talked the bank into giving hm a ton of money because there is prob 50k in parts and materials in that car.
@AB-80X5 жыл бұрын
@@toffeerado As was mentioned in the video, he had sponsors. No bank will ever finance a kid doing a project like this, as they will not consider it an investment, i.e there's no security in the car - especially when he does not have an actual shop. That brings us to the part of his wealth. If he had money to finance this "easily", chances are that he would have rented a proper workspace for the project. Yes there's a lot of expensive parts, but the whole thing oozes budget. That not a negative thing, it's just part of the story. As was said, it would not have been possible without the help he received.
@stereolababy5 жыл бұрын
50k? surely you jest.the motor cost more than that
@AB-80X5 жыл бұрын
@@stereolababy No. That engine might be violent, but that does not make it particularly expensive. It's not a big engine per se, and other than a big cam and high compression, it's pretty normal. You have to remember that it is based on a platform where nothing has to be ordered special or built. It's no like building a BBC with 5.0 or more bore spacing, or a super tall deck engine. You can easily put a combo like that together for less than 20k in parts.
