What I could never understand about SC2 players that stick to build like its holy script, even tho they are getting hard countered they keep sticking to strict build order and then getting crushed by opponent. Glad to see approach is changing and playing responsively to what's actually going on in match makes watching this game more interesting than before.

buildings are units and like all army units, deserve to be microed, no need to make a building appear if its unneccesary

Hero's one pylon that powers 4 gates. The three widow mine bought so much time for the retreating army, which taxed the APM of hero. Oliveira style starts his aggression at +1/+1 and keeps rally into the middle of the map.

I can not remember a single time I was clapping watching SC2 at home, but Oliveira changed that. Semifinals and finals just crazy emotional, I even drop a few tears after last game vs Maru and durring interview

​@@Katzenweitwurf I think most serious ladder players only play on Korean server anyways, very small amount active player base before server was shut down. And rest only plays custom maps such as "Tavern Battle", not a huge problem since they got imported to other servers. The only thing is, after Oliveira's success, many people never heard of starcraft before became more interested, they could have try out single player campaign, get to know the lore but ... all this doesn't matter anymore, since we won't be seeing a SC3 before 2030 thanks to bobby, I really hope Microsoft acquisition goes well since they seem to care RTS. what do you think about stormgate

He's playing heavy bio with less medivacs. Means he gets a bigger army faster (which is how he just straight up killed so many people with timings) but he has to be careful with the stims

I think that's the standard 1. It doesn't drain all the medivac energy since only a small chunk gets stimmed. 2. It provides vision (high ground) for a relatively small risk. 3. Since he is against protoss he can hot pick up the chunk against things like force fields?

he did well to win, only thing that takes away from his win is the poor balance of the game. so it was bitter sweet, terren and zerg and way stronger than protoss now, so he won vs2 races only, not 3 like previous winners, uthermal is terren so he is happy to see a terren win even at the expense of game balance and the death of sc2

You can argue that Protoss is in a slightly weaker position at the Pro level. But to say Terran is the strongest is an absolute joke since it's pretty much universally agreed that Zerg has a slight edge against the other 2 races at the Pro level.

I mean Hero did get to semi-finals so it can't be "that" weak. I think the biggest thing was the battery nerf. It went from super overpowered, to looking quite weak in these games. Likely because Olivera targeted batteries quite early. The TvP changes were a nerf to ghosts (which olivera didn't use) along with a nerf to batteries (which olivera targeted down very quickly). It was only that last battery that did some work, but Olivera was already so far ahead at that point that it didn't matter. He was 40 supply up before his counter attack. Zerg on the other hand isn't weak by any stretch at Pro level and is agreed to be stronger. What you are seeing here is how a really good terran can make other top tier players seem underpowered. Hero, Reynor, and Maru all looked powerless in some of their games vs Olivera simply because he was playing that good. The most powerful players of all 3 races and he beat them all quite convincingly.

Honest watched most of the streamed tournament. Thought Reynor was the favorite but Time (original name) was a freak. So happy for him and Maru. The new balance patch seems to favor T. Not a bad thing just new.
