One thing I have to ask is... why does everyone always warn against the damned horse and the eclipse but never the tower of god arc? Like seriously, must be you people were desensitized by that point and I had been warned so many times of the prior cases than that’s the one that got me but that fucked me up. No joke, for me, the most painful moment was actually a moment of fridge logic when after binging berskerk on my spare time I got past the tower arc and needed a break, and I was remembering everything and thought to myself that the Lost Children Arc felt like a breather between te tower and the eclipse, and then it dawned on me, the f*cking LOST CHILDREN arc, that in any other manga would’ve been the most fucked up moment ever, just by virtue of where it was placed, felt like a god damned breather. Although I guess funnily enough the current arcs with the sea god and elves and shit are far less fucked up than anything before them. Kinda funny that the apocalypse seems to have made the tone somewhat lighter in general.

As of now, Griffith is still fighting in the name of causality, and since none of the other Godhand members opposed him on this, you could say that Griffith bringing humans and demons together was fated to be so. If you consider that heart of evil chaper canon, where basically god tells Griffith 'do whatever you want', you could say that Griffith's will is causality/fate itself. Which adds a whole different meaning to Guts struggling against fate. The only time you could say Griffith went against causality was that short moment when he considered not taking what was offered to him.

I’m glad but not surprised Nux was able to spot the complex situation. Guts can’t kill Griffith without the world wanting him dead. Griffith has done a lot to change the world (seemingly for the better) and Guts is already on his way of starting a new life with Casca. Guts will never forgive Griffith and neither will I but there doesn’t seem to be a motivation to go after him other than revenge. (As of right now) Especially if Guts wants to keep Casca safe. Until the next chapter, we won’t know what that “motivation” will be.

Watching the’97 anime now I’m thinking about the Falconia city, this would be the city of Griffisu but this was before the reveal of Falconia. But those original Hawk soldiers banded with Griffisu because something very wonderful would come to be and that wonderful thing turned out to be Falconia. Interesting.

I love all your Berserk videos but I disagree. Femtoh is not destroying fate, he is an insturment of fate... fate as contrived by the idea of evil, to whom the God Hand serve as agents. In other words, this is all the will of the idea of evil, the God Hand and their apostles go forth into the world and bring that will about. The idea of evil has simply made living conditions so horrible that the people will accept anything that promises them salvation, even demons. Though most assuredly that salvation is simply temporary... until a final eclipse where an unsuspecting humanity as a species is given over as sacrifice

I like this take, though I won't say that Nux's is totally incorrect. As he says, no one really knows what Griffith's end game is at this point, so either or neither of you could be correct. Hopefully Miura-sensei, Guts, and all of us will still be around for the ending we need for our years of struggle and our questions will be answered.

I actually disagree with your conclusion, after doing a bit of digging into the Idea of Evil: The Idea itself claims it is just the collective desire of humanity given form. Since the Godhand are the ones to act upon its will, they shouldn't actually act against humanity on a larger scope, which is exactly what we see here: Griffith does not just play the role of the messiah, he IS the messiah and saviour of the entire world. After the founding of Falconia, an enormous majority of humanity lives in an absolute paradise, along with those apostles and demons that formally had human forms. Not only did Griffith save humanity from its fate of just aimlessly wandering around, but he even saved those damned by their own actions; he truly is a pure reflection of Jesus from the bible. Also, your description of Fate is slightly incorrect: Fate is not preordained in Berserk, it is causality that is more or less determined in advance. The outcomes of actions being taken is considered to be mostly consistent, albeit that there are some notable exceptions. The Idea of Evil is not actually able to manipulate every single person's actions and thought, although it is very close to possessing the power through causality. We see something like that happening with Rickert I believe (as far as we know now at least), who decides to split off from Griffith, despite living in a paradise. We see something similar in the Skull Knight and subsequently everyone the Skull Knight ever interacted with. Although it could be argued here that the Skull Knight is just the antithesis of the Idea of Evil, thus leading to two different strings of causality that end up being contradictory towards each other. Anyways, what I'm trying to say here is that "fate" does not exist in Berserk, only cause and effect. The way it seems to work is that the Idea of Evil has understood the system of cause and effect to such a degree that it started chain reactions that people unaware would follow, making it seem like destiny, while it was technically not preordained but planned and bet. We also know that the Skull Knight has a similar understanding of causality to at least the God Hand, meaning that it seems like he is creating a second, seperate string of causality to oppose the machinations of the Idea of Evil. And it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility given that precedent that Griffith himself might plan to manipulate Causality towards his own ends as well, with the end goal potentially being to turn into the Idea of Evil himself? Idk about that last one, that's just pure speculation.
