All respect from Lebanon to all these martyrs. We also suffered from the Othomans 400 years too. Greeks deserve to be free. Since I got married to a Greek husband & learned the language, I became very attached to Greece, my second country. Love u Greeks..

Interesting fact 🙂 Haiti was the first country to acknowledge the Greek War of Independence, in 1822. Haitian president send a letter to Korais to express his support although his country was very poor and could not spare any money or ammunition, (it is said) that he send a shipment of cocoa beans to sell and buy guns and ammunition.

@@christoforospapakonstantin3409First of all I open a parenthesis about the name of Albania or Albanians quoted by Strabo (around 58-21/25) in the 1st century BC and Claudius Ptolemy (around 100 - 170 AD) in the 2nd century AD. It derives from the name of an Illyrian tribe, the Albanoi, which was located around the city of Albanopolis (now Zgërdhesh located in the region of Krujë). Moreover, even today, a region of Albania, from the north of Tirana (between the rivers Mat and Erzen), is called Albëni (gheg dialect) or Arbëri (tosk dialect). But this name Albanoi with its various variants (Arbanites, Arvanites, Arvanitis, Arvanos, Arban, Arbani, Arbanon, Arnavuts, Arnauts, Arbëri, Arbër, Arbëni, Arbën, Albën, Albanois, or Albanians) really began to spread when the Albanian territories became a field of hostility and a buffer zone between Byzantines and the new Slavic invaders (Serbs, Croats etc.. ...) towards the beginning of the seventh century AD. Several writers of the eleventh century, including Michel Attaliate and Jean Skyltzes, have recounted this kind of confrontation and widely spoken of these Albanian mountain tribes. It is the Angevin chancelleries (Charles I of Anjou, brother of St Louis, proclaimed himself king of Albania in 1272) which, in the 13th century, conveyed the name of Albanian or Albanians, which spread rapidly, like wildfire, throughout Europe. It should be noted that the Albanians never use this name (Albanian) to designate their own ethnic group: they call themselves Shqiptar, that is to say son or child of the eagle. @@nestormakepontos9700 The Arvanites in Greece originated from Albanian settlers who moved south at different times between the 13th and 16th centuries from areas of what is now southern Albania. Source: Ducellier (1994) The reasons for this migration are not entirely clear and may be multiple. In many cases, the Arvanites were invited by the Byzantine and Latin rulers of the time. They were employed to resettle areas that had been largely depopulated by wars, epidemics and other reasons, and they were employed as soldiers. Some later movements would also have been motivated to escape Islamization after the Ottoman conquest. The main waves of migration to southern Greece began around 1300, peaked during the 14th century, and ended around 1600. Source: Troupis, Theodore K. Σκαλίζοντας τις ρίζες μας. Σέρβου. p. 1036. Etc. The Arvanites first reached Thessaly, then Attica and finally the Peloponnese. Source: Biris gives an estimated figure of 18200 Arvanites who were settled in southern Greece between 1350 and 1418. The poem "Thourios" by the 18th century poet and Greek national hero Rigas Feraios included an appeal to the Arvanites, as well as to other Orthodox Christian peoples living in the general area of Greece at that time, to rebel against Ottoman rule. Indeed, during the Greek War of Independence, many Arvanites played an important role in fighting on the Greek side against the Ottomans, often as Greek national heroes. With the formation of modern nations and nation-states in the Balkans, the Arvanites are now considered an integral part of the Greek nation. In 1899, leading representatives of the Arvanites in Greece, including descendants of the independence heroes, issued a manifesto calling on their Albanian compatriots outside Greece to join in the creation of a common Albanian-Greek state. Source: first published in Ελληνισμός , Athens 1899, 195-202. Quoted in Gkikas 1978: 7-9. During the twentieth century, after the establishment of the Albanian nation-state, Arvanites in Greece came to disassociate themselves much more strongly from Albanians, emphasizing instead their national self-identification as Greeks. At the same time, it has been suggested that many Arvanites in earlier decades maintained a position of assimilation... Source: Tsitsipis (1981), Botsi (2003). Etc. ...leading to a gradual loss of their traditional language and a shift of the younger generation to Greek. At times, especially during the nationalist regime of August 4 under Ioannis Metaxas from 1936-1941, Greek public institutions followed a policy of active discouragement and repression of the use of Arvanitika. Source: GHM (1995), Trudgill / Tzavaras (1977). See also Tsitsipis (1981), Botsi (2003). In the decades following World War II and the Greek Civil War, many Arvanites were pressured to abandon Arvanitika in favor of monolingualism in the national language, and in particular the archaic Katharevousa which remained the official variant of Greek until 1976. This tendency was widespread mainly during the Greek military junta of 1967-1974. Source: Gefou-Madianou, pp. 420-421 Etc!

To fight with heart and soul for a greek freedom. Yes, with only few men. Persians thought the same, to attack with thousands, but all you need is logic, strategie and a greek heart. This will never change !

The majority of modern Greeks are different from the ancient Spartans. Ancient Greeks were not all racially the same anyway, the Thebans and Athenians for example were different racially from the Spartans. Greece was never a homogeneous country.

@@Non_auro_sed_ferro_recuperanda With over 90% genetic results, we are closely related to our ancestors, only a minimal influence from later migrations was added, especially the Peloponnesians to which I also belong are closer to our ancestors, I am not saying this but the universities. Of course, the Greeks were not a pure race from a single haplogroup, the peoples who migrated there from all directions of the Mediterranean formed the specific tribes by mixing, these haplogroups are still visible today, they show the regions from which they migrated. The Greeks from the classical period also spoke about the ancient Minoans and Mycenaean's, for example. It is not the race or blood group that determines the descendant, it is the genetic relationships and especially the ethnos, regardless of whether you are Greek or Chinese, if you follow the ethnos and are brought up according to it, you are an ethnic descendant, you simply notice that you feel attracted to the ethnos. Genetics also contains information that is passed on / inherited. Furthermore, you feel your language, I could learn Chinese but never feel what a Chinese feels, with us it is very strong with the feeling, unfortunately the Greek has been ruled by the Eastern Romans for about 1700 years, education, schooling, religion etc are Roman, with a touch of Greek to take care of the proud Greek, many compatriots are not aware of this, but this does not affect all of us, especially us who are not Christians and follow the ethnic "religion", the original system, the actual teachings, not the Roman. Everything was systematically ruined or forbidden, especially by the Emperor Theodosius to maintain the rule of dogmatic education and to nail the Greeks of the next generation to the ground with the knowledge of our ancestors and keep them mentally enslaved, this has succeeded until today and only slowly our fellow men are waking up, as they have been strongly manipulated from childhood. All is a matter of education, our ancestors acted according to principles and laws that were bound to the ethnos, especially theology formed the Greek, his values, virtues and freedoms, if today everyone would follow in the footsteps and approach the ethnos, the behaviour would also change. If you live and fight for the ethnos, you will die as a descendant. What will it take to settle ongoing disputes today? What will be the outcome of the wars in Syria, Yemen, and the belligerent Turkish offenses in the Aegean Sea and Cyprus? Will the powerful states be bold and side with the more righteous side today. One can only hope.

The Souliotes were at war with Ali Pasha for years and when eventually Souli fell, the ones that could not escape blew them selves up and a group of women and children, trapped by the Albanian forces in the Zalongo area, jumped off the cliff in order not to be taken prisoners. As far as the Arvanites goes if you call them Albanians they will kick your ass. So quit busting my balls with idiotic Albanian propaganda.

The rebellion of 1821, which paved the way for the independence of Greece, began with the revolt of the Greeks living in the Mani Cape in the south of the Peloponnese Peninsula against the Ottomans on March 17, 1821. One of the first targets of the uprising was the city of Tripolitsa which is situated in the middle of Peloponnese and administrative center for Ottoman rule in the Peloponnese. Many wealthy Turks and Jews lived there. After the siege of several months, the city fell in the hands of rebels at the very beginning of October 1821. The number of those brutally killed in the town depends on the sources. However, as per estimations, between 10,000 to 25,000 Turkish-Muslim people were killed. They were not only killed. They were tortured through often publicly exposed different methods. What happened in this massacre is detailed in various British academic sources. When explaining this terrifying savagery in his book written in 1897, British historian Walter Alison Phillips states the following: For three days, the miserable inhabitants were given over to the lust and cruelty of a mob of savages. Neither sex nor age was spared. Women and children were tortured before being put to death. So great was the slaughter that Kolokotrones himself says that when he entered the town, from the gate to the citadel, his horse's hoofs never touched the ground. His path of triumph was carpeted with corpses.[8] Another eminent British historian William St Clair in his book written in 1972, refers extensively to the faith of Turks in the 1821 rebellion. He states that the Turks who constituted the considerable population of Greece in 1821 disappeared totally and suddenly in the spring of 1821 and that the rest of the world ignored their disappearance. When criticizing this pretend ignorance, he explains his sadness and states that the Turks "were killed deliberately, without qualm or scruple, and there were no regrets either then or later."[9] In his book, William St Clair did not hesitate to openly describe the torture of Turks with frightening detail. Apologizing to the readers for its disturbing content, I present below a passage from these parts of the book: Upwards of ten thousand Turks were put to death. Prisoners who were suspected of having concealed their money were tortured. Their arms and legs were cut off, and they were slowly roasted over fires. Pregnant women were cut open, their heads cut off, and dogs' heads stuck between their legs. From Friday to Sunday, the air was filled with the sound of screams before Colocotroness (added by author: Konstantinos Kolokotronis, a Greek highwaymen-klepht- leader) called a halt. One Greek boasted that he personally killed ninety people. The Jewish colony was systematically tortured. About two thousand prisoners, mainly woman and children were stripped are driven to a valley outside the town and then killed. For weeks afterwards starving Turkish children running helplessly about the ruins were being cut down and shot at by exultant Greeks... The wells were poisoned by the bodies that had been thrown in. Soon plague broken out and spread so virulently that during the rest of the war the Peloponnese was never free of it.

Bruh, it was MORE than that! You need better sources!!!! So great was the slaughter that Kolokotronis himself says that, from the gate to the citadel his horse's hoofs never touched the ground. His path of triumph was carpeted with turkish corpses. The Greeks which entered it, cut down everyone from Friday till Sunday. 32,000 were reported to have been slain. ".. When I entered Tripolitsa, they showed me a tree in the market-place where the Greeks had always been hung. "Alas!" I said, "how many of my own race have been hung there! And I ordered it to be cut down. I felt some consolation then from the slaughter of the Turks .." -Theodoros Kolokotronis And if you try anything again, we will cut you to pieces again, just remember that. CRY NOW Katliami 😀
