Now the Truth: they planted mostly fast-growing poplar and aspen monocultures, as a sresult of which no ecosystem established itself and 85% of all the trees died in the early 2000s. They have now learnt that planting millions of the same tree only excarcebates the problem as it also drains the groundwater. The Gobi Desert is still expanding by about 10.000km2 per year.

Another victim of US backed anti-china propaganda with old and fake news. The numbers were nowhere as high as you claim and they already fixed all the shortcomings. Now they've reverted the desertification speed and they are reducing the desert area by 2000 km2 a year
