Not a witchy recommendation, but The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben is a must for the tree lover. I learned so much and it wasn't boring. You might check out Aine Orga's channel. She isn't a witch, a pantheist pagan, but I feel like you might see things similarly and she has good book recommendations.

My favorite book of hers is the Protection Spells. Although I'd also highly recommend Spellcrafting. I always always recommend her to beginners because honestly so many of the writers are Wiccan and so "rules, must do this exactly like this" which I just straight up am just not about. It's so limiting and I prefer the good teachers who aren't going to tell you that you need x,y,z and must do blah. She's much more open than most writers.

This was such a good review! I actually was debating getting this and had asked my friend (growing-yet-into-magic on tumblr, great resource but I’m biased) what her thoughts were and she hadn’t really heard anything either way. I’ll have to make it a priority to pick it up

I always say like many others, that being a witch isn't a religion. It's a practice. And everyone has their own way of doing it, and ways they were brought up with. I consider myself a green witch, but also I focus on other things as well. I have the same book, I did think it would be a great book for baby witches.

I’m currently on holiday in Aberdeen and picked this book up at HMV I think the shops called. I told my parents it’s just a gardening book and that actually let me buy it because I was with them and they don’t want me buying any books that are “inappropriate” (not that the green witch is inappropriate) and I’m so happy I got it!

I enjoyed this book, but calling it a complete guide is a misnomer. It's a nicer book to get your feet wet and get a feel for it. I didn't connect with everything, but I did pick up some useful things that I've incorporated into my practice
@aboutthatlife4 жыл бұрын
oh definitely. I find any book that says its a complete guide really isn't.

Tbh as guy, when I began reading spiritual/ witchcraft books, I thought I couldn't be a practiceioner or would have to identify as 'Wizard'. Once you have read a few books that primarily focus on she/her pronouns, you get used to it.

eh it's such an easy fix to have more inclusive language and since reading this book I've read ones that do that inclusive language better for sure

Yeah I was wondering about this as well. When I talk about Green Witch in Wiccan circles they say it's a Wiccan thing and yet this book mentions it being witchcraft. I have yet to finish it granted but where would u suggest to look for community or to just learn more on this journey? Mostly in case if you run into any problems and or just want more information. Just because whenever I look up the term "green witch" it always without fail takes me to Wiccan areas.

I have a few of her books including Protection Spells. And while I've only read two just a little heads up she does speak about smudging and a few more things I believe are from closed cultures (though I'm not 100% sure) in that book. I know you have similar feelings to me about smudging so I just wanted to let you know. Its the only book so far from her that I've read that touches on it.

Not to put her down I know of she has a ton of useful info. Just thought it might be something you want to be aware of.

As for trees I don't own these books yet but I have them on my wishlist... Celtic Tree Magic by Danu Forest and The Magic of Trees by Tess Whitehurst. I will say that most of Tess Whitehursts books are absolutely awful but I really like her flower magic book and I want the tree one because it's a similar format. Her regular books are pretty awful though honestly. The Celtic Tree Magic book was recommended to me. A lot of witchy books are available on Scribd so I like to check there and read before I buy because so many are terrible.
