I remember Greenville in the late 60s as a kid. Much simpler then, but I still like Greenville. I'm from Pendleton.

I was born there in 51 but I'm very far away now. Those years, the ones your photos depict, they were the good ones. Thanks for sharing...

Who could forget Kash and Karry and those creaky wooden floors? LOL I used to brag about the SCN building being a skyscraper. I wasn't a city boy though. I lived in a rural area of Greenville county. We only went to the city a few times a year. I saved up my money so that when I did go, I could get a shoe shine on Main Street. I went to school with Lynn Irby and a few others I can no longer remember. Lynn would've graduated around 1976. I remember her as a sweet and intelligent girl.

Thank you, Michael Irby. I remember many nights riding with my father and mother to the old Greenville General Hospital where my mother was a nurse. Sweet memories for which I thank you.

I grew up in Spartanburg, but spent many Monday nights in Greenville at the Memorial Auditorium watching wrestling. Also saw a lot of concerts there back in the 70s and 80s. I moved out of state in 89 and haven't been back since. I wish someone would make a video like this of Sptbg.

I moved here in '89 and never got a chance to experience Textile Hall. It was torn down in 1992.

Burger Chef - Hamburgers - 5 cents, Cheeseburgers - 10 cents The only fast food place we could afford to eat at, about two or three times a year. We were relatively poor even though we didn't realize it at the time. One pair of shoes and one pair of pants were what we got each year....if needed. My Mom would turn us out in the Summer wearing nothing but our whitey tighties. We would come home and they would be coated in red mud.
