It's a beauty! They really got these models right.

Great video, I have the 2627t and I absolutely love it! I wanted a gretsch back in the 80's now I have one and I want ten more lol!

I have a Gretsch 5220 Jet from 2018 that I enjoy playing FAR more than my 2022 Epiphone Les Paul Standard. It’s lighter, more ergonomic, has a more comfortable neck, sounds better (more open and resonant) and is actually $300 cheaper brand new than the Epiphone. I’m currently looking at getting a double-cut version to replace my Epiphone SG. Gretsch guitars are amazing and underrated. Most people don’t even consider them. They’re the best value around.

They’re great guitars. Very flexible with style. You’ll love it.

I put a Vanson on most of my Gretsches, a good upgrade, also a B6C Bigsby on my 5420T Improved that no end. Wilkinson tuners are great too.

I had a Gretsch Electromatic Double Jet for about 2 years. Sold it last year. Had to keep replacing shitty electronics. My input jack completely came apart inside the caivity. Had to rewire several places because of terrible solder connections and very thin wire that just snapped when moved. Also hated the laurel fretboard. It felt very plastic-y, and always looked bone dry even after conditioning. I would love another Gretsch, just had a so-so experience with the Chinese made ones. However, I have 2 Chinese made Epi's, a ES-339, and a Firebird V. Both are great guitars with excellent fit and finish. Frets are very nice.

My fretboard feels good. It had been well set up when I got it, and I use F1 oil too, which helps. Agree on the electronics, not the best, hence the issues. I tried the IBG 335s (which I was going to originally buy) and couldn't get on with them, just didn't feel as nice to me. I've had Dots and Sheratons in the past which I loved, but wasn't impressed. My Epi J45 is excellent though and is my main gigging guitar for solo stuff.I guess at this price point you've got to keep looking until you get a good one. I did with this.

Nice review - really well done! I tried the Electromatic when I was looking for a hollow body - I wanted to like it because you know, it's a Gretsch and my heroes played Gretsch. The Pups were very quiet. Ultimately settled on a Sheraton II Pro which I love. I like your channel and laid-back approach. Looking forward to more content.

I coveted Gretsch Electromatics, but ended up with an Epi 339, which I just found better when I compared them in the shops. I've since sold that though, because I still picked up a Telecaster far more often. With regard to input jacks, I recommend fitting Pure Tone jack sockets. They have four sprung contact points and are better even than Neutrik sockets. I've fitted them to all my electric guitars.

The Gretsch that beat the Epiphones? With all respect. That would be any Gretsch.
