People screaming hipsters-just went there and everyone seemed extremely down to earth and incredibly diverse for Chicago. Great neighborhood, if a bit sleepier than the rest of the city.

Marz is amazing. Maria's is amazing. Southside is pretty amazing too.

I lived here 22 years. The diversity is why I stay. As a Republican who is probably in the minority, I respect all of my peaceful neighbors. Yeah, there are problems at times, but people are mostly friendly and accepting. It's one of the few places you can live in Chicago, where neighbors greet you and strike up a friendly conversation.

2 years - 1 comment , 1000 views only , I live in Asia / I know nothing of Chicago but if I had to guess .... Bridgeport isn’t hipster heaven just yet ...

Not at all. Hit the north side if you want that. South side is still digging itself out of the mud. It was pretty ghetto most of my life. Now it seems fancy to me but that's only because it was a pretty rough neighborhood back in the day. I lived there for about 25 years.

The Sun-Times newspaper certainly is hip.

Before it got all hipster I used to go into that old dark and smoky bar and grab my beer and smokes and maybe see a few of my mom or dad's old friends. The place was a real shit hole, but it had good folks in it. I swear Maria always seemed like she was flirting with me. She was a charming lady, but about 30 years too old for me, lol.
