I really enjoyed the journalist. Very receptive, open minded, non judgmental and definitely a people person! Thanks for showcasing the beauty that is the South Side of Chicago! I’m very excited to see the South Side continue to flourish!

Great to see how my old neighborhood is doing. I grew up in South Shore in the 1950s and '60s and graduated from Suth Shore High School in 1964. At that time it was very different ethcnically. Classic White Flight to the suburbs during the '70s. It's good to see how some of the subsequent difficulties are being overcome. A few years ago I visited and along South Shore Drive, where I lived, things look as good or better than they did 60 years ago. West of there I did note what I would call a decline but much of that may just be the general, nationwide decline of neighborhood commercial areas such as 71st, 75th, and 79th Streets. Shopping is different now than it was back in the day. There were no Walmarts then. One thing that should have been mentioned is how easy and fast it is to get downtown on the Metra (formerly the Illinois Central). Who, in their right mind, would take a car into the Loop?

All we ever hear, see, and read about are the most broken and dysfunctional things that take place in the black community. All the negative press we get will have you believe that we all live out of script from MENACE TO SOCIETY. But here we see a thriving and successful black neighborhood on the SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO that is bustling with black entrepreneurship, nice architecture, beautiful homes, and successful black owned businesses and prestigious black institutions like the SOUTH SHORE CULTURAL CENTER where they have golf and various cultural events and stuff. South Shore has its issues and problems but there are so many positive things happening there and several black entrepreneurs making a difference. 2 lessons we get from videos like this. 1) Black people are not a monolith. We are a very diverse group of people with various backgrounds, life experiences, beliefs, faiths, truths, struggles, triumphs, adversities, victories, heartbreaks, visions, levels of knowledge, education, and achievements. There are dirt poor, working poor, unemployed poor, working class, middle class, upper middle class, affluent, and wealthy black people all living together in many of these urban neighborhoods all over America. But I love seeing videos highlighting the success stories happening in the black community, that's stuff is inspiring to me.

No truer words spoken. I am from South Shore, and never heard anything positive about my neighborhood growing up. When you consistently hear negativity, seeing videos like this one is super refreshing. There are many beautiful Black neighborhoods in Chicago…never forget that South Shore is one of them.

You have a mixed multitude of people within the black community. Immigrants from Africa, The Caribbean, Central, and South America, homegrown American Blacks, and black people from various parts of the globe who've made these neighborhoods home. The 2 lessons we all learn here are this: 1) Blacks are not a monolith, and 2) Our experiences, circumstances, advantages, and disadvantages, and how we all respond to all these things differs and varies just like any other group of people in earth.

Well, you're definitely encouraging gentrification... That's for sure.
