My personal theory is that roli is a disfunctioning drug addict and that rita is the product of his subconcious thats meant to represent drugs in his life rita is the only friend of roli we ever see and in one of the songs he says ich bin alleine wich means im alone but there is more in addittion to this we clealry see he has problems at school And he tries to use rita(drugs) to help him but it doesnt work we also never see rita interacting with the enviorment in realistic ways for example we can see her bowling with roli but when she throws the ball it makes a hole in the wall and the escape through it this represents that rita(drugs) only destroys but roli still escapes with her And acts as if nothing happend i also find the ways he communicates with rita very interesting when they dont talk in person its through some sort of video chat wich wouldnt have been pissible at that time wich clearly is meant to show us that roli is a genius whos intellect is limited by drugs As the only charcter he can communicate with this way is rita lastly i wanted to explain the famous "platform 23" scene This scene shows rita (drugs) drag roli places he dodnt plan to be tiring him until eventually she leads him to a dark misty place the platform 23 where he almost falls of and dies but he drops his phone and survives that symbolizes him having sucidal thoughts and trying to stop using drugs but being succesful only for a very short time because in the next skit we can see he is still with rita. My theory is that that Rolli is stuck in a coma. After the huge success of the Song he and Rita became addicted to all sorts of drugs, however Rita overdosed and died because of it. Thinking it was his fault, Rolli tried to kill himself by overdosing as well, sadly for him, he did not die. Ever since the overdose he did not wake up. Those skits we see here are actually just made up by him. It's his subconsciousness dealing with his depression. It is unclear if he'll ever wake up.
