Tyler and Matt are both great wrestlers, definitely better than I was at their age. But honestly they both seriously have a lot of maturing to do. In wrestling you will lose and you will not be able to pin or bonus certain kids, it’s how the sport is, you will run into someone better than you and that’s how it is. Everyone has suffered loses in wrestling and they need to understand that. Tyler’s dad I believe is doing a great job at what he’s doing trying to make Tyler a tougher kid mentally, but I felt bad for him in this video. I honestly hope that Tyler and Matt can start acting more mature because those kids have a lot of potential.

For success at high level competitive chess, the ability to stay focused is critical. This is also true with wrestling. Often, while watching the match, you can see the critical moment when focus, and the match, is lost. • Staying focused while the opponent cannot is one way that a “lesser” opponent can defeat someone better. • Staying focused is harder than telling someone to “stay focused”.

Ned seems like a nice kid. Welcome! As for the team, you work so hard and then you lose your cool. It’s hard to stay in control but maybe you boys need to get your mind straight with some pre workout routine to get into your inner beast and stay focused instead of going postal over a match. You’re all better than that. You win some and lose some. It sucks but freaking out DOESNT change the outcome. It DOES however change your level of sportsmanship and how future opponents will look at you. Respect yourself a little more.

Man times have sure changed, and their is no reason too not show they acting like that because its what happend. I really enjoy the show. I looked at a few other wrestling videos on KZbin and they are just wrestling. Which is good too. But I like how you have the boys personalities in it as well. It makes it much better to watch and much more entertaining. I have been wondering what the boys do other than wrestle though. I am sure they have other interests. Maybe to add content have the boys video their daily lives. Give us more to go on as we cheer for their wins. Just a thought. Seems like a good team to be a part of always striving for perfection. Tyler buddy its not the end of the world when you get scored on. I think if you could stay focused that would help fewer judgment errors. I understand trying to completely annihilate your opponent. But we learn from mistakes if we are smart, and you seem like a smart boy. Keep it up and you will be better than you are now. You are pretty good now.

Man, that’s ive coached kids and my own kids. And all those kids are mentally fatigued and psychologically damaged by the time they hit high school. Crying is not ok, but your job as a parent is not barrage them with insults in front of an audience and their piers. Your job is to walk them out of the building and drive them home without saying a word. And don’t take them back to practice unless they ask for it. And then have the conversation with them about crying and how it emotionally fatigues you which physically fatigues you, which makes it harder to concentrate. Sadly, parents won’t walk them out there because it is a hit on them. Never go to ending sporting event with your child unless you are prepared to walk out.

Alex, what you produce is why I am constantly checking back for new episodes. There are plenty of recorded youth wrestling matches available on KZbin - only The Grind has that “reality edge”. I’ll admit to cringing a bit when reading some of the posted comments (some people seem to think that after seeing a few interactions they are qualified to criticize and judge people that they don’t actually know), but that’s part of the “reality package”. The product you put together adds value and makes me want to follow these kids’ “careers”, in some cases all the way through their NCAA days. I look forward to the next episode. Best wishes!

What NCAA days? These kids are all gonna burn out. One more thing, if YOU were qualified enough to know, you would know that someone that IS qualified can pick out bad coaching and parenting from one video. Especially when it is everywhere on these videos. You look at this as a product, just like the parents and coaches in this video do, just like Hollywood parents do, and those that are criticizing are seeing these as kids with careers who are being negatively impacted by this reality show life they are leading in this sport, and by the adults who are horrible examples, and who do not seem to understand what the goals of a wrestling career are. If it is only about winning championships, then the sport is worthless for the 99% who don't win them??? Bullshit. These people have their priorities messed up, and these kids will pay for it in the end.

Hmmm. Not too many of these kids (or their parents) seem to be enjoying themselves out there. Begs the question of why they're taking part. A couple of the boys might be better served by giving wrestling a miss for a couple of years, trying other sports & then come back when they are older & better able to control their emotions. The camera's focus on them probably isn't helping either. Adds to the pressure.

We've all been around youth wrestling for many, many years. Perhaps it's for the sake of the show, but I have never seen this level of inner emotional turmoil. Perhaps it's because it's the primary/only sport/activity these kids have. And while I'm a believer that there can be no off-season for wrestling, this show only reinforces the perspective of that say to only wrestle (no baseball, football, etc) is not effective. I hate to say it, but this series - and what we see within these kiddos is swaying my opinion that focusing only on one sport lends itself to being in a very unhealthy place mentally/emotionally and, sadly in development, becoming an adult. These kiddos certainly do not seem to be in a healthy place mentally/emotionally. It may very well be the worst thing for promoting a sport we love.

Hey Blue, it seems like you have never played any sport before. If you are amateur, losing or making mistakes might not bother you. But once you get serious, even on semi-pro level, some things change. I can tell you when I was playing hockey, I would get really upset on losses, my mistakes or even the ones teammates made. While I agree it's not a proper "sport" behaviour, it is usually the onoy thing that releasses stress. We got into a couple of fights during matches, and from parents perspective, it might seem horrible but we always ended up in the same restaurant, eating and playing together. So do not ever call any sport player a "complete embarrassment" as that us not true. Tyler, along with others in this video, is/are better than 90% of other wrestlers their age. That is it from my side!
