The Grind For The F-4E Phantom | War Thunder [Part 11]

Hi its me again with another tip, the f4e's radar can actually keep tracking targets and ignore chaff in most situations so if you launch a radar missile but your radar changes to lock onto the chaff, don't break the lock and it will still hit the target. Also, if you fly up higher your radar will have a better time locking targets but you will be susceptible to enemy radar missiles too. Great video

Here are some tips for defending against radar missiles and F-4E. 1. go to the option to turn on radio altimeter (RALT), it will show you the real distance between you and ground. Below RALT 60m is multipathing effect altitute, multipathing is a side-effect of radars where the radar locks onto the reflection of a target off the ground. So this is the first way to defend against radar missile, hug the ground, fly below RALT 60m. 2. turn and run away, AKA turn cold. Many early pulse doppler radars have large speed gate, if you are flying away the radar cant pick you up. 3. Notch and chaff, simply speaking, turn 90 degree, put the missle on 3 or 9 clock according to RWR, then chaff. This eliminate the relative speed, so the pulse doppler radars can't pick you up. 4. F pole maneuver cranking, basically forcing incoming missile to take a longer route and make a large course correction mutiple times to drain its energy. In practice, lock you target then turn but puting your target on the edge of your radar scope, fly a while then make turn to the other side and keep the target on the other side of edge of the radar. 5. for F4E, its has no pulse doppler radar, so you can not look down shot down in most cases unless the distance between you and your target is smaller than the distance between your target and ground. so if you fly higher than a F4S or MIG23, you can't shoot back because they will hide among the ground clutters. It's all green on you radar, you just cant tell. AIM-7E2 is a good missle but limited range. Because F4E has no pulse doppler radar, once you lock onto a target and shoot a AIM-7, they will drop some chaff and you radar will lock on the chaff, but AIM-7 has a speed gate filter, it can tell which one is moving or not, so it won't take the chaff, in this case you should keep the heading to the target for illumination so the missile knows where to go.

Also you can look up for some youtube videos on how to manually operate the radar such as changing scan distance/degress/sections, picking up target you desired on radar scope.

Hey, here's a tip, once you get into 12.7 or 11.7 or top tier, radar missiles can't be flared. You have to fly close to the ground to avoid them. It sometimes works, sometimes dosen't. If you want to use radar missiles? You have to lock the person with the radar, then the seaker activates and you can shoot the missile. Hope this helps! 😊

Fly low META is long gone, friend. Learn to Chaff properly and notch. Flying low won't save you from a Phoenix.

I love the F4E. My average game in it is 3 kills, even in up-tiers. Stay low and use that radar and AIM7E2 Sparrow combo. The AIM9J is a good missile; it pulls harder than people think. Also, the F4E is a great dogfighter on low fuel. If you get those games that run for a long time, you can bring bombs or rockets with your air-to-air loadout.

Tip from a very very long time WT player, the biggest thing you need to do that you dont super often is free look at your surroundings, in this game especially at the higher tiers, it is ESSENTIAL you know whats going on around you 24/7, also use your elevator and alieron buttons WAY more then you do and youll find yourself if much better positions much more often happy flying. Edit: 1 last MAJOR tip when your pilot is about to pass out if you hit negative elevator/ elevator down it will prevent you from passing out.

Hey Ant. One thing you should definitely bind is radar/irst beyond/within visual range combat. it switches the radar to different lock methods: the normal where you press lock and it locks a random target, the column lock where it puts a square or rectangle (depending on your plane) on your screen and the first plane to enter it will get locked. This is good for closer fights or locking a specific target if there are multiple on your radar so that <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="576">9:36</a> wont happen again. And in higher tiers like 12.0 and up you'll get the hmd which is like the column lock and normal lock combined but it also follows where you look allowing you to lead you radar and ir missiles in a dogfight.

in addition to the radar ballistics computer for air targets, there is also a non radar one for ground targets that makes hitting them much easier. The F4E should have one. its on a different keybind though. it works for rockets too.

Radar missiles have a lot of trouble tracking below 60m making you (almost) invincible. If you turn on the radar altitude indicator and set the altitude warning threshold to 60m it will turn red when you are in the safe zone.

I believe f4e’s have a head on pd radar, which ignores chaff if they are flying towards you, making it much easier to get kills with radar missiles, as well as getting rid of ground clutter, which stops you getting a lock on them if they’re near the floor.

When you lock into someone, and you're close enough (~1.2KM), your crosshair will dissapear and a new "leading" crosshair will appear. That will be the crosshair you need to use for that target you're locking. You can rewatch the <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="39">0:39</a> footage again, the crosshair was way behind the enemy. Hope this helps! wait till this guy experiences top tier radar missiles Also vulcan is best gun in the game, to properly dodge radar missiles you need to learn to notch, kinetically evade, or go low, because after the base missiles chaff does nothing at all without proper techniques such as notching. Watch a video from DEFYN or Seek or someone who all have so pretty good guides on that sort of thing. (or Jaek)

Chaff does not work on fox1 missiles. (fox1: the missiles that guide itself using planes radar. r24r, r27er, aim 7 (all) etc.) BUT they work on weak radars (f4e, f5e, mig21 etc)
