I have a feeling that a LOT of younger people watch these like they are at Studio 54 in 1978. Also; some people missed this scene by only 5 or 10 years. Others by 40 years. I was about 27/ 28 in 1989 and was in the city a lot BUT I was not "clubbing" because I was more into Rock not disco. I was also in the closet. @@KarlSnarks

As soon as I saw the video about Michael Alig being a murderer, I immediately thought, "I bet Nelson had footage of him in his vlog," and he ends up being the birthday boy in this video. Unreal. Well, at least Nelson didn't live to see what became of his friend or the death of the Club Kid scene. Rest in Peace to Angel Melendez.

World of Wonder also had access to the videos at one time too, but I think they are now archived in the NYU library like you said. And Retro room is a pretty good source for facts so if he said it I wouldn't doubt they are there.

it was his JOB to be there. He was a nightlife columnist. How do you expect him to get stories to write about without actually being at these events? Go back and watch the Geraldo videos with all the club kids, it was obvious that Michael Musto was nothing like the rest of the them, and was usually the only one who could form a complete sentence. I think him and Nelson were good friends, but obviously Nelson wasn't outrageous like the club kids either.

I remember when I was 13 I was hanging out with a much older crew and they used to sneak me into the world and the tunnel of course Limelight and red zone I'll never forget the day that the twins found out how old I was and they will all over me saying OMG she's so pretty she's beautiful she's so young I love her those were the days!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's so cool to see such a mixture of the classes of people. I was just thinking how I could never hang with people like this. How I am probably too low-class for their taste. Then Brandywine says she is working at Wendy's . I remember how she seemed to be one of the popular ones in the videos. That made me feel a lot better. Idk why I am sharing that I just felt moved by it. It's cool that so many different kinds of people hung together with no judgment.

Most but not all of the people in this video went on to tragedies. Murderers, drugs, mental illness, death at early ages, etc. Whether someone works at Wendy's or Wall Street it is sad to see this kind of self destructive behavior.

In any big city-- it was VERY common to see a "mixed bag" of people w/ different careers ( there was ALWAYS one guy / girl that was ALWAYS unemployed and looking, as well as "boring office cube jobs" . I knew people that were doormen in apartment buildings , people that worked in the TV and Movie costume industry, and people who worked for United Cerebal Palsy . So yeah- REAL mixed bag. I was the perpetual "starving artist" even though I did see some shiny bits of success over the years) . @@spontina

Michael is pompus, but charming. At 4:02 Lahoma makes a little noise about the yellow tables which sets Michael off on one of his "look at me, I need attention" moments. He was always needing to be the center of attention, even when he was showing off the new room he designed. Heaven forbid the room get all the attention, Michael is there... he should be getting the attention: enter the "all eyes on me" comment of "you don't like the room", "It's beautiful.", "Yeah, whatever." ALL EYES ON ME!

most of these peoples attitudes were just so ugly it made them ugly..They seem very all about their selfs and didn't care for each other really.Always trying to out do the other be more over the top and out landish.Just seem cold and cruel to each other.Nelson was only one besides Ru who acted like they had some class and carfed for others..Miss you nelson wish you were still with us.Ty for these videos they are pure gold.
