When does this start producing fish in the year? Asking because cats got quiet through the winter

They usually reopen in March/April as soon as it goes mild. It’s a relatively small, shallow lake so doesn’t take long to warm up at which point the cats switch on. Due to the unseasonably mild weather this year they kept it open until the end of October and it continued to fish well.

Don’t ignore the features to your right as you have a decent depth right against the bank. Also, straight out towards the island you will find a deeper and usually clear area that produces well.

Hi Dan peg 3 is a really good swim. Have a lead around in front of you aiming towards the trees to the right of swim 2. As you get near the centre of the lake you will find a slightly deeper area with also has clear patches among the weed. This was a very productive spot on the guided trips this year. To the right try the ledge off the end of the spit, don’t go too close to the aerator though. Most people use carp style baits which we found to be really unproductive, we had 30+ cats over the two sessions using worms, maggots, meat and fish baits. Keep watching the water and cast to any bubbles or coloured water with a heavy float rig to avoid disturbance, we had a lot of additional fish this way. Hope this helps!
