Landau solo is simply fantastic. Strat tone to the very best. The control on the instrument is lesson on itself !!

Lots of amazing "shredders" out there. But it's rare to find someone who can actually make you feel good by listening to them.
@caratcranker58748 жыл бұрын
Yes, guitar can sound very lovely at any speed. Shredding is the ultimate in dexterity,speed,gymnastics, and I do love all sorts of shred. BUT when I want to get soulful,meaningful, emotional, Shred has no place. You need to hear blues emotion.

At least for me, it is rare to see/hear a pairing of two electric guitar players where they both serve the song and stay out of each other's way. I am not talking about one rhythm and one lead player -- there are plenty of those. But two standing shoulder to shoulder. Too often it becomes a shoot out, which is fun, but not necessarily musical. I love what these two have done under the Renegade Creation banner. So good. For anyone coming to the comments -- any other pairs to look for?

@gardnergovan84437 жыл бұрын
The aspect of Ford's playing that is consistent is that he chooses to do less on the guitar compared to when he was younger. In terms of chops he can run with the best and they know it ,He could do more but he decides that it has been done before.
@gardnergovan84437 жыл бұрын
Both are great guitarists, no doubt. But Robben is more innovative and complex harmonically. Different visons of the electric guitar. Landau reminds me to an extent of Adrian and has Hendrix influences in his use of the bar and overdrive. Ford is much more straight ahead and melody oriented. Different strokes. That old tele sounds great.

four amazing players on one stage. It makes me kind of tired, that there´s this debate who is better? Music is a conversation, with everybody stating his/her fair share. You might to agree more with one statement but after a while you might appreciate the other statement as well - just looking at the same thing from a different angle....

A masterclass to all learning guitarists about less is more - Michael has never sounded more soulful in his solo- and, being Telecaster biased, I wished Robben had turned the tone down when he soloed on the neck pickup. Exquisite playing nevertheless

@sclutovic5 жыл бұрын
Apples and Oranges. Totally different approaches... Robben is a much more harmonically "advanced" player with a deep understanding of jazz and how to integrate it into blues and blues/rock. Landau is a wonderfully expressive player ...
@john-zw9rw3 жыл бұрын
That pretty much ...say's it all.......... Ford put on the worst show i've ever in ny 65 years seen.....last year at the Blue Note in Hawaii........... He was a Grumpy shithead..came out - ran thru a half dozen songs and split.....Not a word to the audience.. Ford has multiple songs that I swear are Bloomfield chords 100%... that disgusts me..... maybe Landau wrote Greedy for Ford... I've dialed into Landau during this damn virus bs..... Landau , Schofield....there Happy...who needs a grumpy fuck..

I love so many guitarists and see all their different specialities but Ford I have never been able to get. I hate his tone, bright, shrill and harsh with horrible runs that don't even sound musical or connected. Why do people like robben I can't understand it
