Very rare to see him playing a Strat. This one looks like a mid fifties custom style. Im blessed to have a 56 but a refin. When they get played about 10,000 hours like mine.....the fret board, ( rock maple) gets scalloped and darker. Also, the pickguard screws turn black. This guy makes any guitar sound great.

I have spent the past 2 weeks listening to Frank Gambale radio on Pandora. I was able to grab some aspects of that style. Now as much as I love Gambale and Howe, I must admit, I can't make a DIME playing that shit. When listen to Robben ford and Larry Carlton, I hear a bunch of ideas ( read steal licks) that I can use.

with all the modern electronics it's a piece of cake to make any guitar sound like a strat or a les paul. get a used korg pandora 5 on ebay and send the signal straight to the board.........the only hard part about getting your guitar to sound like Robben's is getting him to come over and play it.

@geetarnut8 жыл бұрын
+JGPorcello The "problem" with strats is, their uniqueness in overall tone, but mostly in the 2nd and 4th switch positions, where you get that out-of-phase tone! No other guitar has that ability. It's really great! But,,, it's too distinct a sound, and unless your a rockabilly player, or pure country picker,, the strat then becomes a victim of it's own uniqueness!

Not so crazy about a maple fret board though. My fingers stick when they sweat. Rosewood takes care of that. My Strat has a Rosewood fret board. My Tele has a maple fret board, but I still love to play it because of the string action, and the bridge pickup is on fire!

@jeffmyers468111 жыл бұрын
You know, I said nothing about Robben Ford himself; I was talking guitars, I thought, with other guitar players. As far as being bitter, the only thing I would bitter about would be the fact that I live in an area where the talent pool is piss poor. There are plenty of people who like my playing and singing, and over the years many people have wondered why I wasn't on the radio. Now, I have aged to the point where that's no longer a possibility. I still record though, something I've been doing since the early 80s. You should learn to be a kinder person. Stop hurling insults at people you don't know, and stop trying to make yourself out to be someone bigger than you are. FYI, I recorded in recording studio of Eddy Alford's wife, you know the guy who recorded the Yes Fragile album, and she liked what we recorded. I used learning other people's music to learn how to play, and then started writing and recording my own songs. I have posted some songs, but not anywhere you're familiar with.
