A man walks into a store and asks for an RC Cola and a MoonPie. The guy behind the counter says, ‘You must be from Alabama.’ The customer replies ‘Just because I asked for a RC Cola and MoonPie, how come you think I must be from Alabama?’ The man behind the counter calmly replies, ‘’Cause this is a hardware store. I want to wish you &yours a happy & safe holiday season

Phil, I get what you are saying about the engineers being the folks who buy the most expensive guitars, but a lot of average musicians don't really deal with engineers very much and when we do it's not in a professional capacity so I don't think of them as a "bluesgineer" but when the lawyer I go to to read my contracts before I sign them showed me his PRS he became a "blueslawyer." It was a similar thing when my dentist talked about getting a guitar last year. He became a "jazz dentist" in my mind. Hope your Christmas is a good one. That goes for everybody reading this comment, not just Phil. You all are great, and I'm glad you're here.

Hey Phil, just to let you know, I work with teenagers and lots of them, boys and girls both, wear their Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd shirts, or from other 70s, 80s, and 90s bands. And truth be told, they love that music. They know it well. It's not just a fashion statement.

Merry Christmas Phil! That was a great employee horror story. So sorry for such a putz to have worked with you Phil, but as usual, you took the high road. I feel bad for those 60 students, but neither did they deserve to become involved in the middle of a customer tug-of-war. You did the right thing by not allowing him to continue to use your store for even another moment.

During the pedal unboxing, at first that ES style guitar I thought i had a weird long headstock and the neck was also strange, and figured it was a twist neck (like that ergo twist neck bass) with 12 string but realized the ES is in the back and there's a PRS hanging in front of it (on the stand) when you grabbed it.

Phil!!! A belated Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, to you and yours, from my family and me! To me, I'd that a guitar player is someone who plays guitar, good, bad, phenomenal, or horrible. A musician, to me, is someone who can play some kind, any kind, of music with other people. Music has always been about creation, expression, and communication, and a musician can play music, can communicate, something from themselves to the other musicians, simple, complex, or anything in between.

I had to do a marketing project in college. We had to market health center offerings. The campus center was offering a stress management class called “Under Pressure, Overwhelmed.” I said, “omg you should make posters with Queen and David Bowie! I was told no one would get it. They proved their point by asking the freshman at the front desk if they knew the song Under Pressure. They looked at us like we had 6 heads. In that moment I realized I was old and maybe it was good I was graduating that year.

When Reverb was bought, I was asked for my social security number for tax purposes, and at least 4 times I informed reverb that in no way were they going to have my ssn, they are not my employer. They treat their sellers like whippin boys; and I have no more use for them or the horse they rode in on. I can’t believe I said all this without every expletive in the American vernacular.

Engl Savage is my go-to for metal. Way prefer it to the Powerball and the Morse. I think I A/B'd it against the Fireball too. But don't recall 100%. Either way, the switching options are incredible, but more importantly, the tone is 3-D, tight, and so aggressively voiced! Takes a boost nicely as well. Great head for live and recording. I am surprised more guys don't reach for the Savage.

I watch Phil and KYG because he connects with the average hobbyist guitar player. That's me. When I hear that Phil had a negative experience with any company, I remember that and it contributes to my decision making process of where to make my next purchase. I'm probably not the only viewer who feels that way. So, IMO even huge companies like Sweetwater (which I've bought from in the past) need to support creators like Phil who are honest and connected to the demographics that generate a majority of their sales. JMO.

2:07:40 They do not do deals, they sell so much now that they don’t give a s**** Besides, pay attention because they have very low prices, like crazy, but most of them could be factory seconds, I reckon, that or every manufacturer forgot about quality control, I had there issues with Supro and Fender. Regarding that, Thomann seems to collaborate at the beginning, but for 4 times in a row they send me articles with something wrong and yes, they do the first return almost immediately , but after they started complaining and blaming me. And ain’t picky. I stopped buying there. (*) little after I wrote this they offered me a 30€ gift card, which is nice, but I rather go with quality control, like Sweetwater. Anyways is honest to say.

12:18 My employee story as a customer comes from the former East Coast Music Mall in Danbury, CT. I called there and they said "Yeah, we're not open but come on down and we'll help you", so I went down there and they said "well, we don't know who told you to come down, but we'll help you". I said that I wanted a Les Paul, and this jack ass goes "No, you want a Paul Reed Smith, Les Pauls suck". I told him "I don't want a Paul Reed Smith, I want a Les Paul", and the guy tries to sell me one for list (which as at the time $699 back in 1991) and starts arguing "No, that's not the price, it's $1,400". And he kept insisting that I look at a PRS. Finally I said "Okay, you don't want to help me so I'll buy one used", and then this a-hole points a fake that some guy was making in his basement and said "you can't tell the difference, only we can tell the difference", and I told them "you know what, I'd rather give him my money right now than you".

For me I disagree about the guitar I want. I though I'd always want a clown burst Les Paul and a Rickenbacker. Well at 16 I picked up the bass and guitar was the side instrument. I got to try a friends Les Paul and hated its weight. Years later when shopping for my first expensive new bass, I had a Peavy T40 that cost $299 new in 1981. I tried a ric and thought little of it and put money on a new 60s reissue jazz bass. A used Spector came available for $650 so I dropped the Jazz bass and became the owner of a Walnut and Maple Spector NS1. I still love Jazz basses and own6 of them all these years later. I own a number of guitars that are Fenders or Ibanez or Reverends. I could have bought that les paul from my friends widow but passed on it. I didn't really want it but also would feel guilty if she took too little for it and another musician she and her husband both knew only paid 1K for it. I didn't screw her, someone else did.
