I don't think people realize just how difficult it is to move up to a completely different weight class and still remain competitive. Not only can he compete with the others, he's setting world records. Huge respect to Li Dayin.

Unfortunately for him has not been able to replicate his world record performance. As such China did not select him for the Olympics. Other lifters like Karlos Nasar are just too powerful. If you want someone who moved up weightclasses you should check out his teammate Liu Haunhua aka Gigachad who within the span of two years went from the 81KG class to the 102KG class to become the current world record holder. An arguably harder task.

For everyone interested: Li Dayin had pretty bad performances after the Asian Chmpionship which lead Team China to NOT SEND HIM to Paris2024. The male athletes that got picked are: Li Fabin (61kg), Shi Zhiyong (73kg) and Liu Huanhua aka Gigachad (102kg). Li Dayin's biggest problem was the appearance of the Bulgarian Prodigy Karlos Nasar. Karlos is a one in a million specimen who survived Bulgarian training and is absolutely unbeatable by anyone. Also his teammate Tian Tao (89kg) didn't make the olympic team because of a shoulder surgery couple of months ago which lead to a decrease in his performance. Li Dayin is still in the Chinese National Team but China added a new Lifter whose name is Tu Yi. He looks very promising and i think he's gonna replace Li Dayin in the 89kg class if he performs well enough. The question here is: What is Li Dayin going to do in the future? Get back down to 81kg or battle it out with Tu Yi at 89kg? We'll see
@SomeSeriousWeight5 ай бұрын
This is the context the video needs. We don't even know if 81KG category will be an Olympic category in the 2028 Olympics.

FACTS: 1. Olympics is not for everyone. Your country must choose the best superhuman in their arsenal. So if you are just a gym goer filming your PR is just shit coz you must enter Olympics in order to prove you are the strongest and the best. 2. Olympics weights are much heavier than any gym weights out there. Olympic bars are weigh a lot heavier than your gym known olympic bars. Olympic bars doesn't bend permanently it only bounces even if you put 500 kls on each sides. 3. You cannot participate instantly at the Olympics. First you must win a ton of National competitions and international and intercontinental competitions. 4. Drug test at the Olympics is absolutely meticulous that even a piece of coffee powder in your centeral nervous system can be detected as a fast-acting stimulant to enhance performance which violates the top rule of the Olympics which is No Performace Enhancing Substance, also SARMS can be detected too as well as TRT, and yes even inhaling salt.
@SomeSeriousWeight5 ай бұрын
Olympic bars not heavier than your regular bars, Olympic men's bars are 20KG (45LBS), women's bar are lighter weighing only 15KG. Most gym bars are 20KG since they are all modeled after the Olympic bars. Also just another note, there is a international qualification process (which the current system they use sucks IMO). But some countries like China and the US have national tests before you can join the national team. Other countries like Qatar and Bahrain don't going as far as to buy weightlifters from other countries lookup Lesman Paredes (he is very jacked). Lastly Drug testing LOL.

@JTK_XXL5 ай бұрын
Because a bigger/heavier lifter will always outlift a light one, so it would not be fair in direct comparison. This way you can also determine who is pound for pound stronger.
@alubchicken5 ай бұрын
Bodyweight ratio naturally declines for taller/larger lifters because force production is not dependant on length of muscle, but rather the *cross-sectional area* of the muscle. Its easier for shorter athletes to build muscle with top end strength capped at height and weight, so they generally have better power to weight ratio at lower weight classes.
