The play was to get rid of a defenseman. We have a ton and he wasn’t in the plans for the future. Trading him frees up a spot on the roster for one of our prospects

Pretty sure highest is used to refer to the highest value, since it’s higher in the round. We say the same about first rounders when we use high vs late, so I’m just assuming

ThIs move for NJ is bigger than everyone thinks. NJ gets an inexpensive RHD for future peanuts 🥜..... ...which now means Pesce is off the tabl for NJ. Which means that NJ will now focus on a premium top 6 forward and gritty left-handed defenseman. Expect fireworks 🎆 in NJ on Monday

When talking about draft picks the lower the numerical pick, the “higher” the pick. The best 4th rd pick that the Devils have in 2026 will ultimately be the Habs compensation for Kovacevic.
