After so many attempts at getting a sequel to John Carpenters 1978 Classic "Halloween" and after many of them being, disappointing or just plain awful. I believe that an idea pitched over a decade ago could have been the sequel to finally set this franchise on the correct path of Terror. The Night He Almost Came Home explores a script written by Ben Collins & Luke Piotrowski, giving us a look at what they believe would have happed to Michael after the events of that fateful Halloween night back in 1978.

Halloween kills had me hyped up for Michael to finally become an actual unstoppable supernatural being, instead Halloween ends gave us old man Michael slowly dying in a sewer having his mask stolen by Corey Whogivesafuck...totally broke my heart, they did Michael dirty

Yeah it was worse than Busta Rhymes making a joke out of him in Resurrection, Cory taking off his mask and pushing him to the ground surpassed the silly dumb Freddy Harris (Busta Rhymes) Kung Fu move on Michael Myers.

I gotta say this has some really good ideas and with the elemenation of the shape speaking would work. And just having him vanish at sunrise and basically be invisible to everyone until next Halloween at sundown. Some people will say well how do people not already know the shape is Michael after the original well that is a good question but loomis would be dead and there’s the fact that news didn’t travel too far in the 70s. By the events of this film anyone who knows the shape identity either has moved on and doesn’t care like Laurie or is dead like loomis. So I think this would be really good. If done correctly and could do something different with the franchise and it potentially work for once. But I’m kinda glad this didn’t happen as I think maybe fans would have potentially been confused plus I love Halloween 2018 I think it’s the best sequel in the whole franchise. And in overall franchise rankings it’s number 2 right behind the original because you can’t top the original in my opinion although for me 18 could have done so if they either a. Didn’t do that sartain twist or b.used the twist as a way to enhance the story instead of using it as a random plot device to bring Michael and Laurie back together. So for me the pointless twist is what stopped Halloween 2018 from matching the original. But Halloween 2018 is still a masterpiece regardless in my opinion. While I enjoyed the funess in the crazy kills and the 78 flashbacks and focusing more on Allyson and Karen in Halloween kills it does kinda fall flat something about it was just like idk how to describe it Halloween kills was ok I liked it but it was just ok. Halloween ends produced interesting ideas that were executed poorly. But I do love the idea of a new shape being created by the town essentially due to fear from the previous shape Michael Myers’s. All in all I think if this film was made an had some tweaks made and had some really good cinematography and not that grind house look that a lot of horror films had at the time then I think it would have revolutionized the franchise.

Man out of the all the unmade sequels, I think this had a 50/50 shot at being that spark that would breath new life into the franchise. I can't take away what David has done with the franchise as I feel like it was an interesting continuation with a few bumps in the road and a lot of potholes but I feel like this would have brought The Shape's character truly back. I definitely think this would have been worth making and it's sad to know that it never did make it off the pages.

This honestly could still be made, with Halloween Ends finishing Laurie and Michaels story. We could have another story but with this " The shape" is an Urban legend maybe even say that Halloween the movie series is based off the actual killings of ' The Shape' It's been killing people since 1970 whatever and they made movies based on it's killings and somehow it reappears and starts killing people again.

@splattercastpod

That's exactly where my head was at with it. The first film would establish the creepy pasta internet legend side of it and then this film would explore the ramifications of that. Showing how so many people are so quick to play Detective and spread misinformation while this Shape waits in the shadows for his next attack. Michael never becomes supernatural in this pitch. Only his legend and the stories people tell about him would elevate him to that. But it would all simply be in our minds
@Davonte744
@Davonte744 Жыл бұрын
Honestly this version of Michael would be improved if they showed him improvising by grabbing random objects and using them just as well as he uses his knife, similarly to how he killed the woman with a hammer in 2018. It would really give the impression that The Shape can just walk into your house and end your life with anything that’s laying around. Maybe have a character be so paranoid that they keep all their kitchen appliances in a locked cabinet or something.

Great video and I love the ideas that were given. The biggest issue is that all the Hollywood people think the same. I love that the franchise was rebooted, but they always seem to have to put in the stupid social commentary and they forget that they are making the movie for the fans, it's not about them. I swear, if the actual fans put our heads together, we would make a great Halloween movie. I have seen several really good fan films on KZbin, and way better than the last movie, Halloween Ends: The Cuckholding of Michael Myers

Oh man… when the 2018 came out I felt as if the act of uncoupling Laurie from Michael just wasn’t capitalised on enough so I started to come up with ideas for how I would have done a Halloween sequel, and this concept is almost exactly it!! The only major difference conceptually is that the killings continued in Haddonfield until the holiday was official cancelled in the town; that’s when it spread to other places. I wanted to uncouple Michael from the Shape to by shedding doubt on the identity of who’s doing this, with rumours persisting of copycats or a cult. But yeah, it was all about making the Shape into an urban myth that could come to your town… although the main story focus of my idea would be about Haddonfield reinstating Halloween after 15 years leading to people interested in the case flooding the town, just in case…

The last three films are awful. The handling of Laurie as a Sarah Conner wannabe destroys any chance of us sharing her vulnerability and plight if she's walking around prepared with guns at the ready. Michael Myers has become a parody of himself within the films. He needs to stay a mystery, a shadow. NEVER show his face, keep him distant from the camera until the end and we definitely should never know where he spends his time when he's not killing. They destroyed any creepiness he had. I just don't think that a great Halloween film can be made like the original as I believe that audiences these days can't be entertained with subtlety, atmosphere and nuance anymore.

While I did genuinely love the 2018 sequel (not so much the 2 movies that followed), I do think this would have been amazing to see on the big screen. If this movie concept is what you all want let me tell you that the entire idea is just plagiarized and swaps mike Meyers as the villain, go watch Strangers or Strangers prey at night if this movie concept is what you want and give the new movie the credit it actually deserves! It's a look at how fear and society can mold us into something we're not, Corey Cunningham was a sweetheart young man and made a single mistake because he was afraid, and then the town shifted their fear towards him and acted out with hatred which then grew within him. But yall are cheering for: Strangers, but Mike Meyers. Get real.

The Halloween franchise is full of "illogical" things or (in my opinion) bad creative decisions but at the same time, I think there is at least the atmosphere that saves the given film overall. That's why all the Halloween movies until (and including) The Curse of Michael Myers were able to work for me. 6:10 is when the video actually starts. Edit: Your idea for a sequel is good but as we've seen with Kills and Ends, staying to close or going too far is bad in the fan's eyes. The idea these two pitched is awesome, but I feel like would work better as a series on Shudder rather than a series of movies. This way you can do multiple years to show the killings. Hell, make the main plot round the detective and journalist and each Episode is a recounting of that year's murder string.

Marcus Dunston's Halloween Returns script would have been the SH1T. Dunston is underrated and so is his The Collector "franchise". Jamie Lee Curtis NEEDS TO GO AWAY. Laurie has to be the most STALE character in horror. David Gordon Green is a hack and if you pay attention Halloween 218 was just scenes that he cherry picked from the franchise and re-worked a little. Give me 4K copies of the trilogy and I'll edit it down to an awesome duology.

I meant to say Halloween 2018, but the zero on my keyboard isn't cooperating lol. And I like JLC as an actress but they need to stop acting like there can't be a Michael Myers without a Laurie Strode. She is ultimately inconsequential to the Shape and whatever his "motives" are. I see him like an incarnation of DEATH itself. So eventually, he's going to get you even if you did escape him once. Anyway, thanks for the vid - that script sounds SICK and it really sounds like these guys "get" what makes the idea of The Shape truly scary. Also - any future movies need to include James Jude Courtney because that guy OWNS the role of the Shape now, with all due respect to Nick Castle of course.

Halloween Ends really pissed me off with it's woke themes and ridiculous characters. It screamed ME ME ME! about only Laurie and her feminist quest to beat Michael. No real fans care about her, they care about knowing more about Michael and what drives him or his origins. Parts of 2018 and Halloween Kills were good but not enough parts. I really hope someone who gets this film's appeal is allowed a chance at resurrecting this slasher legend.

They can still do this kind of story. While Halloween Ends left us fans much to be desired, the mask was the only thing not destroyed. The one thing Halloween Ends did emphasize, evil changes shape. It's not just Michael Myers as we saw, and while there wasn't much emotional attachment to Corey, but it shows people can be influenced by evil and do evil things. Imo, I thought the new trilogy was overall, pretty good, compared to all the other sequels and reboots. I just wish we had more screen time of Michael in Ends, got the audience more emotionally connected to the characters. While Kills failed on the emotional attachment, it didn't let down on the gore and the death, which was by far the goriest of all Halloween movies. I truly hope if we have a sequel or a reboot, they emphasize more so on character development, emotional attachment, and an overall story that makes sense, seems possible in today's age, but also gives us plenty of the shape and it's kills. If they truly want to bring fear back into the franchise, they are going to need a director who knows how to portray it from script to on screen. Typically Sam Rami comes to mind, as Evil Dead is still in mind, one of the scariest movies I have ever seen, which set the standard for horror films. They also achieved this with horrible graphics and a low budget.

There's no denying that Michael's true motive is to endlessly recreate his murder of Judith. Why else would he go through the trouble of digging up her gravestone and using it to spook Laurie? That's also why he targeted Laurie specifically, because she resembles Judith. So I've always interpreted it as a sort of "anniversary syndrome" thing, which is common with serial killers. As for why Halloween specifically, it's probably because Halloween is a mask-centric occasion, and Michael is clearly obsessed with wearing masks. Keep in mind that this is all lore from the 1978 original.

This scrapped film could’ve been called something like Halloween: The 31st October. Just slightly change the script where it takes place 31 years after the events of the 1978 original and Myers himself comes back to Haddonfield to reek havoc again.

I think they should do a direct sequel to Halloween 6 where the child of Jamie is all grown up and starts his search for Michael Myers and the whole movie is an epic battle between him and the Boogeyman.

I did like Halloween 2018, for the most part. However, Halloween Kills was simply not a good movie. I don't understand the rehash of Laurie in the hospital. I was only a mild fan of Halloween II, to begin with. I did find Halloween Ends to be a better installment than Kills, but only moderately better.

Halloween Ends was such a disaster, who will finance anything like this now? My idea is this... Michael escaped, grew up with a new identity and become a normal person almost all of the year. He ultimately worked at a sanitarium far, far away from Haddonfield. Ultimately, something happens and he begins to have a bizarre metamorphosis, ala Francis Dollarhyde from Red Dragon. Michael's a lowly janitor. He interacts with a severely mentally ill patient, who was a serial killer. Michael picks up his energy, his vibe somehow, and then we see 6 months later, in a city many miles away. Michael looks different. He's now bigger, stronger and has been killing animals. The lust to kill keeps growing but he's fighting it. He again works part time at a sanitarium. There's a Doctor there who interacted with the same serial killer Michael did. Michael feels the killer's energy come to him through the Doctor. Without explanation to anyone else, he disappears. We then see October 30th in a new town. Michael has been killing many animals. We see bodies in his freezer. It is unclear if he killed these people but we see him utterly fascinated doing things to dead bodies. We see a news flash that the serial killer escaped on the news and his location is unknown. The Doctor is dead. It's now Halloween. Michael initially dresses up as a ghost and arrives at a party, where he's unknown and blends in. During the course of the night, multiple people disappear and we never see what happened to them. After a while, their friends realize several people are gone and get suspicious. Michael's ghost character has apparently been accounted for, so it appears he couldn't have done it. We then see a first person's view of the dead bodies. The friends go looking for them and are brutally murdered, one after another. We only see the first person view of the murders. After all the partygoers flee in terror, they are pursued, by a character in a ghost costume. Eventually, the cops show up en masse. The ghost flees. We don't know who the other character was now. Both appear to have gotten away but we see several cops sliced up. Everyone is dramatically confused. Skip ahead to next Halloween, where it's noted the serial killer never was caught. Theyre now also searching for Michael. He's living in an old fallout shelter in the midwest. We see his tormented memories of the slayings. He has been living solely off wild animals, eating their meat and drinking their blood. He has been wearing a mask so he wouldn't be identified. Michael is hungry and goes hunting in the early morning hours of Halloween. Suddenly, out of nowhere, two hands land on his shoulders. He and the viewer see how all the cops and party kids get killed in a flash. Skip ahead another year and it's Nov 1st. The news is recapping a slaughter at a frat house from only hours prior. We go to the frat house and see several murders. The killer is wearing the ghost costume. We cut back to the shelter. Surprisingly, it's very clearly the imposing figure of Michael. The location of the recent slayings was rather far away. We now see the dead body of the serial killer and the doctor shedding the ghost costume. Faked his death. End movie. Sequel would be wild.

For me personally, I've always felt like adding elements of the supernatural to Michael Myers made the character less interesting and I've always felt like calling him "The Shape" cheapened the characther. In my opinion, the scariest thing Michael Myers could ever be is just a man because at the end of the day the darkness that can live inside of a human being is a whole lot scarier than anything supernatural could ever dream of being.

Here is my pitch, give a director like Mike Flanagan or Ryan Murphy the keys to the franchise. Both are terrific at delivering story line that flows, character development and have a horror background. Malek Ahkad is happy to continue his fathers legacy of tarnishing the franchise by letting folk like RZ, who casted a former child actress of 4 and 5, then got her t*ts out, as well as the little girl from forrest gump. DGG and DMcB might be fans of the franchise, but their background is comedy none of which are funny. I like the 2018 movie, they got a lot right in terms of the look, character development. The only problem was the way the film ended would have suggested that was that. Then along came Kills and had it not been for the flashback scenes, that was destined to be every bit as bad as 5, 6, RZ 2009 and resurection.

@@splattercastpod I would love to see it, but doubt it will ever happen. They tend to go for below average directors. Rob Zombie is more suited to a Texas chainsaw franchise or potentially Friday the 13th, where he can go full out trashy slasher style. DGG for me is too much of a fan focused on delivering fan service, and I don't rate his work prior the H2018. Although I like his H2018, it's not a bad entry. He ripped off a few scenes throughout the franchise and spiced them up.

I just dont understand the hate on this new trilogy, it's probably the best we've gotten as of writing this comment, which means in future requels we can only go up from here. The main reason I think people disliked this new trilogy so heavily is that everyone expected it to be the final reboot of sorts, it's never going to be the final one, halloween is too legendary for that. Great video once again and all of this is very interesting

So Radio Silence stole ideas from this unmade script for Scream (2022). Interesting… However I think they can still go there, and have this urban legend version of Michael Myers, that would acknowledge all previous installments. In a smart and unpredictable way, without erasing them.
