My first experience with Halo was when CE came out on PC. Not that I wasn't acquainted with orchestral music in video games, but when I heard the Gregorian chant opening, I was blown away to the point I was wondering if this was the right game. This classical rendition brought that memory rushing in and I was 13 all over again for a minute. Halo 2 and Halo 3 LAN parties are still, to this day, some of the best and greatest memories ever. 7th grade through 10th grade, hosting LAN parties with classmates/good friends (we were a group of 7-9) to play Halo Combat Evolved in computer class. I'd have a cracked version of Halo: CE on a USB in case I needed to install it to the computer(s), and later on add any Mods or Maps that I'd find through the web at home in my free time. Those were the best times ever, and I miss them every single day, I remember maps and mods like Paintball, Zelda N64, Rainbow Road with the Race gamemode, a winter Bloodgulch, and so much more. I was so into Halo: CE that I even got into creating maps myself. It was so much fun. And now nothing is fun anymore, I have lost all interest in video games.

Nah, obviously its a Fantasy setting version of the storyline. Instead of the Elites, Grunts, Jackals, and Brutes you have Orcs, Goblins, Kobolds, and Ogres. Instead of guns you've got magic and swords. Instead of the flood you have an undead hivemind led by a lich who gave himself to his creation. Not a halo fan, can't remember hearing the theme before now... but I can appreciate music. And I can say, it's so cool how just changing the instrument can preserve the sense of upcoming adventure and intensity of the original theme, but slightly change the meaning behind it. The original context is sci-fi, from what I know. Here, it sounds like a classical epic tale being told to you, like a bard is regaling you with a tale on equal level of Beowolf or the Illiad. Like through the music, they're inviting you into the world of the story and all the adventure that awaits within. Like it's telling you the tale of a hero, or many heroes, and their battles, slowly drawing you in with an air of mystery from the start before unfurling the full force of the story for you, then wrapping up with a reprise of the beginning to let you take a moment to contemplate how this story has changed you, changed your life. To wonder where the heroes go when they walk off into the sunset.
