My aunt moved to that area in the early 60s from Florida and her Husband grew up there. I remember visiting in the mid 70s and my mother buying pottery from somewhere. Thank you Rebecca and everyone involved for being a Steward of the legacy of the area to keep the history alive. Great channel.

We were always taught that the word "Kiln" meant the heat was withi~"n". The N being the outside oven and the inside of it is only being the KIL.

I remember seeing a piece of local pottery at a North or South Carolina Rest Area/Welcome Center years ago. It had a turkey track design on it. By the time I got back again, it was no longer on display.

Very interesting. Something I do remember is the tobacco KIL is how we pronounced the word, here in Myrtleford Australia, back in the 50's and 60's.

How do you determine the temperature of the kiln? Do you use some sort of laser heat detecting instrument or is there a way to tell by looking?
@FartSquirel
@FartSquirel Жыл бұрын
by looking... the pottery acquires different colors on different temperatures. On this case he did described it on the video, when it gets white it means it got to 2350ºF (1287ºC).
