The idea of building a "shrine" with objects that make us happy is very interesting, I wonder how it is related to actual shrines of old religions

If you want to be happy you have to make yourself happier. What is happiness? Loose, broad definition. The right question is how to be happier. 50% happiness is genetically determined 10-20% life circumstances. People think happiness is selfish but this is a false stigma. Happy people are more altruistic more interested in the problems of the world. They have the emotional capacity to become outward and help others. Energy is tied to our emotions. To be happy you need energy to get energy you must get enough sleep. We adjust to sleep deprivation-dont realize it but it effects mood, memory, immune function. Exercise a 15 minute walk a day. Tired, no problem, exercise boost energy it does not deplete it. Jump up and down- both feet off the ground= happiness. Mental energy- we feel because of the way we act. Change actions- sing in the morning, Get involved in novelty and challenge, because doing less doesn't always make you happy. Possessions make us happy- arrange your favorite objects. Outer order contributes to inner calling.

If a person is considered clinically depressed, will any of this stuff work? Or is real depression something that can only be treated with drugs (or whatever) but not cured?
@Sangfuglen7 жыл бұрын
David Maxfield i think it depends on the person and what their situation is. Where they are in their illness. I read the happiness project the first time I was emitted for severe depression and I really enjoyed reading it, even though I didn't have money, a home or a job. It worked for me in the year after where I decided that I wanted o get a dog, even though I was sick and couldn't really afford it. So I got a dog. And it's been my best decision yet. I have even less money now, but I'm more happy now than I think I could ever be without my dog. So the project helps to put things into perspective and then it's up to each individual how they interpret and apply it.
