@iSugarHeart7 жыл бұрын
Perkeren I guess it depeneds on what kind of outlook you have when you visit a country. If you go to a country hoping its a happy one you will be more likely to notice good things that affirm what you hoped to see. If you look for sad depressed people thats something you will notice 1st. Every country has good and bad so whatever you choose to see.
@Dimka2012Bo7 жыл бұрын
I didnt notice any of that, well they do drink a lot, but this is true for most of the countries i've visited. Suicide rate? Denmark is 105 country on the list with 9.1 per 100K suicides (south korea = 24) - so obviously you've got wrong stats.
@MsCrow346 жыл бұрын
Perkeren actually you are incorrect maybe it's a good idea to do a bit of research before you post? Actually doctors started prescribing high levels antidepressants mostly prescribed related to job stress or anxiety? Maybe it's because they are so efficient? As in Denmark they only work an average of 32 hours a week verses America's 47 hours (I used stats from gallop, most others sources had Americans working 50+ hours on average per week) Also part of the issue may be that Danes go to the doctor more because they have free universal health care, where as we Americans pay a lot to go the the doctor even with insurance. As far a suicide rate you are actually incorrect Denmark has a lower suicide rate than the USA. Denmark is at 9.3 deaths per 100,000 people, USA is at 10.3 per 100,000. So in short I'm not even sure what you are talking about? Not a single thing you said was correct.
@michaelgrant1696 жыл бұрын
@@beo191Going off the research, Denmark is one the best governed countries, possibly the best governed. Denmarks depression rate could be more of lifestyle or and an environmental problem rather than a political problem.

I have two daughters. My 15 year old daughter has for the past 10 years said she wants to be a doctor. I encourage her and tell her that she can be a doctor if she is willing to work hard for it. She gets good grades and she is very self disciplined. Gets up early every morning and gets to school on time without me having to nag her. She does her school work again without help. I do believe she has what it takes to reach her dreams. And as I tell her, if she discover along the way that her dreams have changed, that's alright too. My 8 year old daughter doesn't know yet what her dreams are, only that she would like to work with animals. I tell her that she has all the time in the world to figure it out. What ever she chooses to do she will be great! She is a good student too. She asked me once after big sister got a top grade if I was really proud of her. I told her that of course I was proud of her sister, but I was proud that she did her best and if she was a student that had a learning disability and got a much lower grade, I would be equally as proud as long as she did her best. It's not the grade, but the hard work I was proud of. Love from Denmark

In Denmark growth is not the goal. Our ideology is mainly freedom. Next year or next season is a positive path. Just try not to Take it for granted. We trust eachother by being “naive” or vulnerable individuals. If you cheat us you make a failure against us. I believe in everyone untill they show me the opposite manner in life. Tolerance. 🇩🇰 Whenever We celebrate our goals or achievements. Next year or decade We never Take for granted. In some countries it might be standard to calculate in growth. A lot of people seem to be missing the message that it is up to the individual to spark change in their life. In any democratic society, there exists the privilege to enact change within a system. I would argue that even when your life is threatened every day by being born into a society that does not value you - even then you have the ability to control your own actions and perspective. People from every culture like to blame the system that they are in because they want to be valued but they do not want to value others. Attitude is everything.

Well, I'm Danish and I don't really disagree with what she says. Similar things has been said by plenty of other people before. We do indeed seem to be very trusting compared to most other nations in the world. We don't assume people will want to do bad things. Like the whole baby in a stroller thing for example. The thought that someone might steal a child would never cross my mind. Why would they do that? I wouldn't want to steal a child so I guess I just sort of assume my fellow Danes feel the same way. However, I do think she just saw an opportunity to make some money and went for it. Apparently she left Denmark twenty years ago. She's not part of what makes Danes or Denmark trustworthy then, is she? She's not a part of that trusting nation at all and hasn't been for 20 years. And if she hasn't lived there for 20 years, why on earth should she be the one telling you how Danish people are? lol It seems to me like she's just copying what other people are saying and pretending she has some sort of special insight into it. She left as a teenager. If you should pick someone to tell the world the truth about your country, your people or your culture, would you pick a teenager? Her only experience of living in Denmark is apparently as a child and teenager. How much did *you* really know about what makes your nation work, about what makes your culture the way it is etc. when you were 18? :P

You don't actually have to live in a country to know something about it. She did grow up in Denmark (Aarhus), so she has first hand experience with the culture at least.
@gnawershreth7 жыл бұрын
+Joe Smith Yes, the culture from 20 years ago. You think time stood still for 20 years? And the culture as experienced by an angsty teenager with no obligations and no clue about much of anything besides where to get cheap beer. An 18 years old may never even have paid a bill in their life, they may never have had to buy toothpaste, they may never have voted (voting age is 18 so depends if there was an election the year she left) and an 18 year old sure as shit doesn't have any insight into the general Danish sense of trust or of leaving children outside in their strollers. She probably never even noticed it when she lived here as it had zero relevance to her teenage life.
@squatch5457 жыл бұрын
You think Danish culture completely changed in 20 years when it comes to trust? Please cite your surveys. Also, what makes you think she has no relatives living in Denmark or does not communicate with people in Denmark? If the culture of trust has changed so much, don't you think her friends or relatives who live in Denmark would say so?
@gnawershreth7 жыл бұрын
No, of course I don't but a small thing like leaving a kid outside in their stroller and similar minor issues can completely disappear in that time. Or new minor things could pop up. My problem isn't that she points out a fact that still exists. My point is that she knows nothing about it. She's just copying what you can find other people saying, what you can read about, what you can take a vacation to Denmark and see for yourself. She has no special insight. Do you honestly think that a person between the age of 0 and 18 thinks knows how Danish society works, why we trust each other more than others, even thinks of the stroller thing as something special etc? Of course they fucking don't. They just see it as a norm. When she grew up the internet wasn't really a "thing" yet. You could't just go online and see KZbinrs talking about the strange (to them) Danish traditions etc. She likely assumed that the entire world did the same as us... If she ever even thought about at all. She was a child ffs.

I would love to have pigs as my neighbors. They are so precious! I know that’s not the point of this video. Thank you for sharing these values. I am going to try what you said.

As an American who has lived in Sweden for years, I am really tired of surface conversations regarding Scandinavia's "happiness" without explaining demographic or historical background. What is Denmark's immigration history? What is the variation of Denmark's population? How was Denmark plagued by poverty and illness at one point that sent people fleeing to other parts of the world? She mentioned how a woman was arrested for leaving a baby alone in New York. The state of New York is one of the most diverse states in the United States (one could say one of the most diverse places in the world) with a long history accepting immigrants from all over the world, and has much higher criminality compared to Denmark. It also has approximately three million more people than Denmark. What would be the fate of Denmark if it became as diverse as New York? It's ideal to discuss highlights of Scandinavia, but be sure to mention how it is different than many countries in regards to population, immigration, history, religion, etc.

people have been burnt every day by trusting other people. My life would be better if I had little bit of suspicion and a little digging.

That is part of the trust thing. Chose the right surroundings - and know whom you meet and trust ...

The problem is nobody is real free to do what wants. In the real life you can't choose who to be or what to do. I am not a pessimist person but realist.
