Loved the book reviews; I’d love to see more reviews (or interviews with authors) of other books on anything paddling/outdoor related.

I loved Adam Shoalts whispers on the night wind. It was the book I read this fall on my camping weekends. Got a few more of his now on my tbr shelf for next season.

Whisperer on the Night Wind is really good but I love all Adam's books. And yes, PFD's were worn on that tragedy that happened on Lake Temiskaming. Spoiler alert, they died of hypothermia cause it was a late Spring. I haven't finished that book yet but also a great book. I bought it cause I live 350m from the lake but that story also affected my life growing up cause I was only 4 years old when it happened and I had a love for water since way back then, but after the tragedy, my parents never let me attend any camp that involved canoeing. I lost out on so much of my youth. Apparently my dad used to say to my mom; he'll die in a canoe accident if we let him join that group. So years later as an adult, I bought a solo canoe and do solo trips in the backcountry cause that's "so much safer" than in a group. LOL! I'm sure my dad is rolling in his grave but my grandpa would be opposite cheering me on.

Great choices. Adam really had me for a couple of weeks as I read his Whisper on the Night Winds. Great book with many scary moments. Saw the movie Deliverence , but I would not want to go through the gore again in the book. The Stranger in the woods was a great book. I have often brought up the story while sitting around in the dark while camping with my buddies. I love your taste.

There’s a great ghost story in the 1947 book set in the Rideau Lakes “Where the fish are rising” by Clint Fleming.

Came on to rewatch your Spey River trip to keep me company over lunch, and watched this instead. Thanks for the book recommendations.

Small world. I rewatched that series the other day. I would paddle the Spey again in a heartbeat.

I am intrigued. Which book on that title? There are a lot. Is it the one about the draft dodger living in the woods in B.C.

@@TheHappyCamper Oh i didn't realize so many. But yes thats the one! A man i guided with in Manitoba gave it to me the RCMP officer who got killed in the pursuit was his high school friend. It may be hard to find. He was known as the mad trapper

Great choices! However "The Bloody Falls of the Coppermine" is about the murder of two Roman Catholic priests and the subsequent chase by Insp Denny La Nause to arrest them...still a great read. Try "Descent into Madness" story about a modern (1980's?) mad trapper. Cheers John
