This is a tough choice for me. I've always wanted a Marine Master on the bracelet, but the 62 MAS style appeals to my love of functionality over styling. So it'll be the SPB453 on the bracelet for me.

the MM200 GMT reiteration brought it to another level with a better movement, bezel and functionality while the SPB is just a more refined version of what was already there. the MM200 GMT wins in my books.

The Marinemaster 200 is my favorite case. I recently purchased the Sje099, at first I thought it was a little small, but it has grown on me. I know the SPB453 is a little larger, so I would be going with that one next and definitely keeping it on the bracelet. The Marinemaster gmt will definitely be purchased as well, but only after the SPB453.

@thewatchidiot My pick is the SPB383 MM200, perhaps on a retro waffle strap, even if i am a bracelet guy. The MM200 simply drew my attention during this entire video, and made me watch your other videos on it. This watch appears classy and unique with so many intricate details, like the handset and dial finish, chapter ring, date window(its not completely square, more like an old tv screen shape), bezel with a huge lumepip, case shape and finish, the list goes on and on, and it just draws my attention, its fun to look at. Everything just makes sense and blends together in a comprehensive design. This comparison video shows that there is no comparison to the mm200. ♥

I saw both in person before I stumbled across this video. Both beautiful watches. The MM has more flare for sure. The size specs are 2 to 3mm larger and while not a big deal on probably 7” or larger wrist, it was absolutely a big deal on my 6.5” wrist. MM sat there like a chunk of metal, where the 453 basically melted into my wrist. The thickness on specs don’t appear as different on paper as they do on the wrist. I really like the modern look of the MM, but the MAS style cases just fit better. Both watches are executed way better than some of the previous models, so good to see Seiko may be listening, especially in this price range. I had previously avoided getting into this Seiko price range, due to their super sloppy executions, and unpredictable accuracy. Can’t speak for the accuracy of the new movements, but a move in the right direction.

Excellent as always. I'd go with the SPB383 on a 3rd party rubber straps. Rotating rubber straps on this strap monster (in different colors and thickness) changes it's visual wrist presence, just like the old days where I swap straps on my Panerai. It's like having a new watch everytime u swap straps. The form factor of the SPB453, to me, works best in it's original vintage dimensions of 38mm. I've always lusted for the SJE093 but never could justify spending that kind of money on it.

I would pick the 453 on the bracelet, since I already have an SPB383. Don't really find the GMT function on it very practical, though. (in terms of legibility) kiinda wish it had a GMT bezel over a dive bezel.

SPB453… even though I’m a huge GMT fan, there’s something about the simplicity and elegance of the SPB453. It’s not overly complicated and it’s not too stripped down. It’s just perfect. I’d pair it with an oyster bracelet or rubber strap with white accents🤩 great comparison video!

The SPB453 is an absolute classic I own the SPB297 and I love it, especially on a tropic strap. But between the two the SPB383 is for me. As you said it’s a “pure” Seiko, but I absolutely love the GMT function and the design so for this video I choose the 383. Great video, congrats on the 20K subs! Keep it up 👍

I have the spb385 (blue dial gmt). I didn't even go into the AD to pick up the seiko. I went in for Tudor, but I was so impressed with the Seiko it's what I walked out with. I wear mine on a Strap Habit pink fkm.

Its a tough choice but if I had to choose it would be the Marine Master. I agree it is more quintessentially Seiko, which is a good thing, and I've always loved the stop light seconds hand although I have yet to add a Seiko that has it. Its about time! The addition of a GMT is the cherry on top. As for the strap, I also like the rubber on it - it is a "Marine Master" after all. That said I would want the option to switch out to a metal bracelet so I would eventually have both. Great review as always!

Really appreciate the side-by-side with these two watches! I've had my spb383 a little over a year now and love it, but sometimes wished it had more matte surfaces and a smaller case diameter. Sooooo i guess i actually want the spb453... 😅 Tried the 383 on nato as well as waffle and tropic rubber straps - didn't vibe with any of those, so it's stayed on the bracelet. The 453 probably looks sick on a tropic strap. Cheers!

SPB383 MM200 GMT! Always liked the big bevels and the wearability of the watch. I also for some reason like rounded indices more than rectangular ones, don't really know why. Would keep it on the bracelet for the wrist presence!
