Yao ming did a good too, but that being said nobody could really guard Shaq. Im a Pistons fan and Ben and Rodman made it harder cause they had super high motors and if Shaq ever had a weakness it would be his conditioning and his defense imo. Despite being 4 or 5 inches taller and like 60 pounds bigger he got out rebounded regularly, and in the finals Ben had some of his best offensive performances just running the floor catching lobs

While that era is now known as the inefficient iso ball chucking era, it was also one of the most physically grueling eras, where zone defense could be used without much consequences since shooting 3s were still discouraged. Much harder to score in this era which is why people who watched AI knows he was a bad mofo.
@pob-4810
@pob-4810 Жыл бұрын
Good take. I hate the inefficiency arguments when people talk about the years before modern basketball. Primary scorers had no choice but to take these shots, it’s crazy that they can even match the efficiency of their role players but their will always be discredit.

@michaelcavallacci2945

@@TheBrysenjin. I was thinking the same thing. Nobody thinks it was an inefficient era. From the beginning, basketball was played inside out. Teams looked to get the ball inside to get higher percentage shots. Over the last 10-15 years this has changed dramatically as the three ball has become the primary weapon in basketball. Now the game is played outside in.
@pvlapa
@pvlapa Жыл бұрын
It was only inefficient because it was still the height of "hero ball" but they got hit by the zone that was implemented to slow down Shaq. MJ, TMac, and Kobe are well documented to having HATED the zone. Kobe and Tmacs percentage took a huge hit. AI even shot 39%. It's because they "had to" take the shot. Iso, 1 on 1, hero ball players all had comparatively bad efficiency. TMac, Kobe, AI, Melo all suffered from it. Players like Nash and Lebron were just fine till the next decade because they attacked the defense, not the defender.

That kid was right bro. Iverson for all gifts is still 6ft tall who's a streaky shooter. He'd be a good scorer but I wouldn't confuse being a good scorer with dominant. Bradley Beal isn't dominant..Shai gilgeous Alexander averaged 30 and he's not dominant. You dam near have to be a physical specimen to be dominant in this Era or have a skill that's far and away the best. Kyrie is better than ai and he's not leading a team by himself to anything
