I'd like to point out that only Ontarians call them "muskoka" chairs, while the rest of canada also calls them adirondack chairs. Just want to be clear that we're all not that self-indulgent 😂

im in florida, i was at homedepot picking up the ridgid table saw you dont like, a random guy walked past me and said " spencley design co says thats a no go " and walked off.
@davidp54922 күн бұрын
Make your own assessment. It's Ridgid and Home Depot will take them back if there's an issue. No, I don't have or own a Ridgid tool, but having one random guy on the internet say not to buy it wouldn't persuade me one way or the other if I was interested in trying it out.

Use a split fence on your router table with a 21/2” collection hose. I split my 4” dust collector hose to two 21/1” hose, one above for fence and one below to collect the dust falling down there.
@rogerlove7588Күн бұрын
What I was going to say….I have the (relatively) inexpensive CMT router fence on my router table, and with the 2½” hose split like you mention, I get very little dust on my table top.
@peterszutu555Күн бұрын
@@rogerlove7588 instead of a cumbersome box under the router, I use a latex boot under the bit. It’s very effective and the router breaths fresh air.

Pineapple- 14" Bandsaw. This was both an educational and humorous chair build which kept my attention throughout, not even wanting to jump ahead. I enjoy watching your channel and live feed from which I have obtained a tip or two from; see even a blind squirrel will find a nut every now and then. Thank you.

I have an adjustable split fence for most router cuts, but I also have a small light weight, concave, arced piece with a vacuum port that I position and lock down on my router table for pieces where the fence gets in the way. Depending on the shape of the work piece, you can aim your chips at the dinner plate sized vacuum collector. It’s quick, easy and it works. Never tried routing a pineapple 🍍

An idea for your router fence. Make a new router fence with dust collection or one that attaches to your TS fence that has dust collection.
@waltershoup7632 күн бұрын
Pineapple Very nice I like it a lot. Love that you are showing the different ways to do things comes in really helpful for newer woodworkers and even for those of us that have been doing it for 40+ years. I need to check out the bandsaw guide that is a new one to me and looks awesome.

About the dust collection on the router table. There's a reason why the fences on router tables usually have a opening in the middle. It's not only to allow a bit to be party behind the fence but to help collect the dust via the extra dust hose usually connected there.
@Erik_The_Viking17 сағат бұрын
Pineapple. Great job on the chair! For your router dust collection at the top, I make a 2" hole in the fence that's connected to an inlet for the shop-vac, which attaches on top. Works like a champ.

Pineapple. Router bits, trim routers, sanders, circ saws, jigsaws, Swanson squares, etc. a bunch of very useful starter gear. This way more people have the opportunity to win a chance to try woodworking if they are interested but not sure. Just my two cents. I loved the video.

For dust collection on the table router you could make or get a new base plate with holes in it for collecting the dust.

Pineapple, smaller tools that might be specialty items like a festool orbital sander (or dare I say, their track saw ;) ). Solid content as always Spencley, I will have to try and go out of my comfort zone and do some softwood projects.
@peternatoli2555Күн бұрын
😊hello good Spencley. To collect the dust from a router table may I suggest you use INCRA products which apparently collect most of the dust. My Incra router plate has insert rings which have cut outs in them through which the dust is captured with a dust hose on the Triton dust shroud underneath. I hope to build a dustless woodworking workshop one day and my router table mentioned here will play a big part in keeping to the design brief. I allready have 98% dust capture whilst using a track saw on a rail on my purpose made height adjustable workbench. Thank you for your wonderful presentations.

I love my Festool OF 1400 with dust collection. It makes life so much easier and it is fun to use. I definitely HATE using pattern bits with straight cutters. I used one recently. It made me anxious. It didn’t give me a good cut and I got kickback from it. It just wasn’t enjoyable. SPRING FOR THE COMPRESSION BIT!!! I too have a love hate relationship with spindle sanders. I hated that it was never square and it was not powerful. Never saw that bandsaw jig. Cool I have built three like 5 chairs. I enjoyed this video even though I’m not likely to build another chair anytime soon. LOL

I noticed you showed a Ridgid miter saw and a Kapex. Since it appears you have had experience with both a horizontal handle like the Ridgid and a vertical handle like the Kapex, how do you like the vertical handle of the Kapex? I have mostly had experience with DeWALT saws which would be much like the Ridgid with the horizontal handle. Also has the motor on your Kapex been reliable? I have heard awhile back that they were having some issues with the motor. I wasn't sure if that had been resolved.

Pineapple. Personally, I'd love a 14" band saw, but that's not likely to happen! lol Plus the fact that I'm in Canada rules out the likelihood of sending me one. However, I think little things like that spiral router bit you mentioned would seem to be a more practical item and much easier to ship to Canada...not to mention a whole lot cheaper, too! :) Nice chair you built there, by the way. Great design and looks comfy, too!Oh, by the way...Laurentian is a small eastern mountain range and it's pronounced Lo REN shun. :)

6 degrees C in Ohio?! Or did you shoot this video months ago? Also what tools do you use that nice Harvey dust collector with? It appears you have nothing attached to it (I see a flexible hose on your planer but nothing connected to your dust collector). Curious as that’s a nice dust collector to hardly be using.
