Ataulfo mango- I’ve got several on my property and they have a distinct look - They are cold hardy mangoes grown commercially in Mexico.

It's the Ataulfo mango variety. That variety was created in mexico so in essence it is mexican. It comes from the Filipino type mangos.
@JR-yi3cz2 ай бұрын
Along with the Manilita mango, the Ataulfo mango is a descendant of the Philippine mango cultivar introduced from the Philippines to Mexico before 1779 through the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade. It was crossed with other mango varieties, resulting in the Ataúlfo. Regardless, Ataúlfo remains a Philippine-type mango,

@thehuntfortruth Жыл бұрын

I love the comments from people wanting to buy these trees. Do they have any idea how much it weighs? Look at the size of the planter box. How are they going to move it once delivered? If you have it strapped to a pallet, then sent by LTL freight, where the driver has a liftgate and pallet jack - what's the homeowner going to do with it in their driveway? Who owns a forklift at home?
@thehuntfortruth Жыл бұрын
Just buy a 1 gallon tree. It will grow that size in a year

@@thehuntfortruth Lol not in northern california (where this nursery is located). It takes alot longer here (where the nursery is located) to grow mango trees. We have cold spring/fall/winters. Mango trees don't grow in the cold. It takes nightime temps somewhere in the 80's to trigger growth in mango trees, which means we only get an average of 2 growth flushes during the 3 warmest months of the year (June/July/August)

I might be heading that way in a month or two. Let me know if I should drag one up. I think frost protected pockets of Chico/Redding etc would be ideal. All that heat. Then you would have the most northerly mango in the western hemisphere

@@ScaryHairyGary I see only one type of mango on your GGP website--Corriente, I take it that is this type? Gary Gragg's True Plant Stories what kind of climate can it grow in? Can it grow in a temperate climate? I’m guessing it can’t grow in a cold temperate zone. I know most mangos grow well in tropical or subtropical areas but I do know some grow them in Melbourne area which is a temperate zone. I’m not sure what you guys call your zones in the US so I need to look it up and study the weather zones for other countries.
