Simple, inexpensive to own, reliable and fun to ride, the Harley-Davidson Sportster just might me the best motorcycle the Motor Co. has ever produced. If you own a Sportster, then you get it.

I'm 73y/o..Rode about every bike from a little Honda through Harley choppers British twins Road Kings and more. Lately my Road King was getting a bit heavy for me. This year I returned for my 3rd Sportster. It is so much better in country roads and the turns that come about. It's 20 years old, low mileage and runs great. 883

Love my 2017 XL1200C with the big front tire! Honestly just an awesome ride and I don’t care if other people might call them girl bikes or whatever. Nobody ever says it when I’m around and if they did I still wouldn’t care. It’s an awesome ride

I totally agree with you! I'm 65 and have always loved Sportsters! After owning a couple of Iron 883s, I bought my dream bike (the 48) in 2019. She's been solid in every way. Got a Stage 3 two years ago and enjoy every ride. Last summer I test rode both the Sportster S and the Nightster. I was curious to know what riding a bike with stock hp at 120 and 90 felt like. They were fun, for sure, but I was happy to get back on the 48. Thanks again for your clear and straight forward thoughts! Long live the XLs!!

I really love the 48...heck, I love all Sportsters. I'd like to pick up either a 48 or a 72 if I could find one at a decent price. I still want to ride the new RevMax Sportsters, but I can't ever see myself owning one. I appreciate the comments, my friend. Take care, and ride safe!

I’ve never ridden the older Sportsters but will some day. Your riding style and mine are very similar. I did test ride the new Nightster Special last year and liked it. It was comfortable, had ABS, cruise control, 6 speeds and a lot of other features but the price was just too high. Harley-Davidson lowered the price on the 2024 models I’m sure because they weren’t selling. I think a used Evo powered Sportster at around $6 or $7k is hard to beat. Good video and you should keep this bike.

I’ve pretty much talked myself into keeping it. You should ride an Evo Sporty with forward controls. They are a blast. Thanks, buddy, for watching and commenting.

I had a 73 Sporty XLCH kick start brand new which I paid $2356 including tax & tags. Road that sucker cross country back then! Lord have mercy,would probably kill my back and bones now. Now my brother has her sitting in his garage for the past 35 years and swears he’ll be getting it back on the road soon 😂. But you’re right Stoney, it’s got the Harley classic look we all love. As for the new Sportys, they just don’t move me. Keep riding those backroads my friend!

I own the XL1200T and will not sell for as long I still can ride. It a Swiss knife. The Roads in Europe are not that wide like in U.S, so the Sportster 1200 is considered here a big bike. Those big Harley baggers are nice to look at here in Europe and that's it, the huge weight of the baggers are a problem. Of course not for everyone, but nothing beat a lightweight bike. Sportster is not light but the weight is still under the 300kg from the Softails. The Sportster It is a quick and fast bike. For me it is. The 5 Speed was a pain in the beginning because I was learning the bike. But now I understood the bike the 5th gear I never use it. I'm all the time on the 3rd gear. Lovely gear box. Yes there are so many better bikes. The point is all bikes are good. At the end the best bike is the one you own.

When Orvis128 rode his Sportster from Connecticut at the first Hootenanny, I was extremely impressed with him, and his Sportster. I thought I was doing good riding my scoot from Smyrna, Tennessee! That was a ride around the block compared to his ride. They look like solid bikes.

I truly think they are one of the best motorcycles HD has ever produced. They aren't for everyone, and if you don't fit on a Sportster there's not much else you can do. I don't think I could ride mine long distance without some mods to the seat, handlebars and suspension. But it serves the purpose I bought it for. Take care, buddy.
@johngilbert10475 ай бұрын
Certainly the most iconic model H-D has made in the last 65 years. I had always shied away from them because I thought I was too big for them. Being around people that have them or had them has taught me that they’re not just for girls…and that they’re not necessarily an easy bike to learn on. But it’s clear they are fun.
@NCStoney5 ай бұрын
They aren’t for everyone, and some people just don’t fit on a Sporty. But some folks don’t fit on a Honda Rebel, either. I know why HD had to stop making the Evo, but the Nightster sure ain’t selling. Thanks for the comment, buddy.

@@monk1776 the 48 and 72 are two of the best looking Sportsters, in my opinion. Nothing wrong with the bigger Harleys , but they’ve gotten too big to buy, maintain and insure. Besides, Sportsters are more fun to ride. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe!
