@@maliceinpunderland5869 if you were in another country you'd feel sheepish to start jabbering away loudly in various places, they are emboldened because of the way the government acts, the government literature in all the different languages, the fact they see people all around them from different places, not only their own. It makes them cocky. People like this used to humble and respectful

Charity Shops aren’t over charging. They’ve just realised they price to sell to the public. Some great bargains. They’re not there to underprice goods so that resellers can make a profit out of them..

I'd say 90% are overcharging in my local area. Charity shop shoppers are looking for BARGAINS. Few charity shoppers will accept near market value prices, as they'd just go online. The "treasure hunt" USP has been lost, and that will mean they will lose regular and reseller customers, and ultimately will fail.

@@marlowbulldog6033 They’ve definitely increased prices. Our largest local one now has a full time person listing better donations on eBay and items in the shop are benchmark priced against it too. The Manager there reckons turnover has increased by 40% since they (as he describes) “cut out the reseller mark up market”. Sign of the times I guess. They watch You Tube and learn unfortunately…

@@Therapist_sells When you say “top end prices”, you mean the prices that people flip Charity Shop stock for on eBay? Our local charity shop now lists all its better donations straight onto eBay. Their stock in store is just the lesser value items now in the majority. They even go round out car boot sale to pick up vinyl to sell on line and in store.

Rents aren't subsidised. Though they do get business rates relief, and some tax concessions. I generally like Charity Shops, but also find them frustrating with ridiculous pricing. If they want to charge ebay prices, then they should just put it on ebay. It's harder work than just sticking on the shop floor, so good luck to them. Managers should then also be targeted with a number of listings and sales per week on ebay like a regular business.

My Son and I used to go out for day and travel around the local charity shops looking for vinyl records as my son loves vinyl, the charity shops now want around £10 - 25 per album if its from the 90s, you can pick up the older ones from the 60s quite cheap, but everything seems to be going up now and the charity shops are getting like normal shops nowadays.

From experiance the best prices in charity shops are in the poorest areas, goto a middle class area and the prices are sky high

Charity shops have been shit for years well over priced and have been for many years charity shops are big business they are there to make money most of the stock is over priced and takes weeks to sell if at all . Yes there are still some very nice things to buy out there but if im honest you have to walk in 40/50 shops and a lot of the time you get nothing at all so for me its not worth the hassle anymore things have changed a lot as when you do find something it often doesn't get a good price . The antique and collectible market has fallen like mad and even everyday items that once held a value dont really anymore.
