I have also done b.tech. after college I joined an IT company in Delhi but within 6 months I realized this industry is not for me. I left the job and moved to my hometown. I remain unemployed for 3 years. Although I belong to a lower middle class family my parents always supported me. Last year I took a loan 1.5 lac from bank and opened a fast food shop. Currently I'm making 35 to 40k per month. We r just 3 people I and my parents so this amount is sufficient for us(I live in a tier 3 city). I pay 8k to the cook. I just sit in the shop for 4 to 5 hrs in evening. I know a lot of people make fun of me but I don't care bcoz I'm happy with my life. My businesse is increasing day by day and very soon I might open another stall.

@@lifegreat3022 see money is very important. So currently I'm planning to extend my business. I don't want to become super rich bcoz I don't want to invest my 16 or 18 hours everyday just to earn money. I want to keep everything moderate so that I can enjoy other aspects of my life. My aim is to enjoy everything that life can offer like great body, loving relationships, more sex, world tour, finding happiness in small things like having a chat with my dad, taking my mother to the temple on bike, late night video call with my girlfriend, Street food with friends. I enjoy all these things. My friend trust me this world is very beautiful and people are awesome. Life is giving u opportunity every moment to be happy u just have to aware of it. There is one more thing I want I want to talk about but answer will become very long

This is why I strive for financial freedom and do not depend on job for main source of income. I worked in indian I.T. Company for 5+ years and I had lost myself. After moving to another country I realized how bad I was living my life and took new environment and people around me to realize this. I also had hypertension bp issues. Now I am taking care of my health first more than anything. I never want to go back to Indian Corporate world ever again. All my brothers who are working in Indian companies please always put yourself first, your companies will easily replace you, so its ok to take some time off for yourself and your family. Start some side business so if your boss or company over stresses you, you have the power to walk away and find another job.

EY - Consulting Firms - the hours are bad. And I as consultant know why some consultants stay till 9 because you cant be unbillable - 3 baje khatam ho gaya toh 3-7 dusra kaam Partner de dega - so its better to act like kaam ho raha hai - whereas you have finished it - and release the deliverable at 9. Two things - you save yourself from extra work and the Partner thinks - banda mehnat kar raha - Speaking from experience - 6 years in Consulting.

@@subarashi516 Yes - For MBB firms, its quite hectic - they live from weekend to weekend. For instance - imagine consultants at Dubai Office - They start travel on Sunday mornings imagine waking up at 3 am to catch a flight at 5/6, reach the client site at around 12 (if you are in the GCC Fly Dubai morning flights to Riyadh are full of consultants), and then start working. Then on Thursdays, start travel back from client at around 2 pm, and reach home by midnight to enjoy the weekend. Consulting has long working hours and a stressful environment, which can be difficult to sustain and can also lead to health issues. Many consultants, after spending a few years in consulting, want to have a more relaxed life. I worked with a boutique for 4 years in Dubai, so most of time, our clients were based in Dubai, so it required me to travel less, but even then I've had to wake up early if the client was based in Abu Dhabi. A lot of government advisory work comes in from Abu Dhabi.

i just quit my job, after experiencing the same corporate shit that you talked about. I joined this company post MBA from IIM and had really high high dreams, I felt I could really bring some extraordinary value. Frankly speaking, when you say HRs are doing their bit, I just feel they are ticking their own boxes but that is not drilling down to the employees. The same filth stays, what HRs do just hangs on the walls of the office or some PPT. Dunno man, I might be vicious due to my experience right now but I can say from experience that everyone I talked to felt the same way.

Indian corporate whether BPOs, KPOs are actually screwed up. Personal experience, there is not learning. That's why attrition. Its like "NO HUMAN" space. I think it's more of a choice. High-paying jobs usually comes with high pressure and deliverables and people often tend to give up on their health just to perform better. In most cases I have seen, people just tend to become lazy to work on other things. It is not like they are working for straight 12-14 hours. They might be working for 10-12 hours while they can still do other things in life but they choose not to out of laziness or not valuing the outcome so much.

I am from Pakistan but i think the said things are very much same here too, not only that there is also chain of command issue, like everyone in higher up is giving you orders. You cant make mistakes, if you make one you are out.... you cant leave early until you finish your work or until your boss leaves, you are blamed for your mistakes but not appreciated when you do something good, you have to put a smile on your face everyday and its exhausting.. Well it might comes down to how much responsibility of work you have, your phone is constantly ringing, even if you are sick you cant stay out of work not matter what..... and other thing is politics you just cant imagine how difficult it is to be straight up and not take the damage...!! stay safe everyone

We Indians can't take critisism, we think we are flawless, we dont respect person for he / she being human but for the college he went to. US workplace evolved slowly , after world war 2, ppl had barely survived apocalypse, so after that they became religious, sunday mornings were spent in churches, and that is how they got into this idea of respecting human, personal space and "giving to neighbour" . That Christian psychology shaped US work culture. I am not saying Hinduism is inferior to Christianity but unfortunately for many Indians now days being Hindu is mainly about being a vegetarian and going to temple once a week with family, like an outing. It took decades for US to become that global economic superpower, we Indians faced that sudden positive change in income and surrounding within years. So being, sounding and acting like white ppl is the benchmark for many Indian corporate leader, because we think that that is more important than giving coworker personal space. We actually regularly don't get those moral teachings even though our culture and religion is teaching same, because now days Hinduism is turning into vegetarianism rather than its teachings. Worked with many crazy ppl and psychos in corporate sector, most of them were Indians, thank God never happen anything crazy. Now settled happily in government job, when look back, feel sad for them. They are all good talks but not peace.

I see this too that all people in the hierarchy are working in fear of mistakes, this is a factor in all things in India- fear. Creativity at work isn’t valued, everyone has a way of working but the ways ain’t welcome. Too much masla is also present. Parents don’t understand that either, one starts to hate the job and ultimately people start hating their lives.

All depends on the personality of a person, as the guest mentions there are some very successful guys in the corporate world who can balance their act very well, for them priorities are different because their personalities are different, so take decisions depending on what you prioritize as most valuable in your life, at one point money is, family, health, peace of mind etc, I feel choosing career has to come based mainly on personality traits, money goals next, as you climb up the ladder, the job has to flex for family life and health... Early in life no harm in trying corporate life, atleast for some initial money making till you have enough to start something, then quit when you're ready for something better, experience always matters in your cv...
