Ths video shows step by step how I used the Haslam system of Dresscutting to draft a simple 1950s slip pattern using my own measurements. If you're feeling brave enough, you'll be able to follow along with your meaurements to create your own, custom vintage slip pattern, perfect for wearing under vintage dresses. This video is also a good taster for how this system works in general if you've ever wondered where to start or got stuck with a project of your own.

Congratulations on the little one! We are excited for you! Oh, your teaching method is wonderful! You did so well in explaining the Haslam system. I loved the recaps because they were slightly different, but effectively clarified certain points. I can just imagine your four year-old designing haute couture for her mother! Be well, and I'm subscribed in the hope of seeing more content. 🙂

Thankyou so much! It was a lot of work but enjoyable to make. Unfortunately the next video in the series will be a bit delayed due to a wrist injury that means I'm not allowed to sew at the moment... But if it's taking too long to heal, I'll come up with something I can do in the meantime that doesn't involve sewing.

Oh I have made this as a heatwave night gown. I made it using more traditional methods but it looks great, it's comfortable as I cut the back and front skirt bit on the bias. I might make another as a summer dress if I have time.

Really glad to hear that you are interested in the Haslam System. Etsy is a great place to get digitised versions of the drafting books. "Mrs Depew" is a great seller on Etsy and has a lot of Haslam material available.

Try Mrs Depew Vintage on Etsy. She has a wide selection of Haslam publications available for instant download as PDFs. There are also other online sellers but I haven't bought from anyone else so I can't recommend them from personal experience. I hope you find something that works for you and good luck with getting started. I'll be making more videos in future on different aspects of the system so hopefully I'll be able to offer you more useful insights too.
