Yo, this is not an art tutorial. They are just showing how they use pencil to hatch :)
@math19372 жыл бұрын
God I love hatching like this so much. With pencils one could easily shade in a blended and entirely smooth way, but by hatching instead it adds that subtle touch of texture that, to me, brings it to another level.
@UwU-lm9or2 жыл бұрын
THIS YESS YOU EXPLAINED WHAT MY BRAIN WAS THINKING OF and also the textures IS SO TRUE also cause honestly whenever I see it it's one of those textures that scratch the itch in my brain very satisfying BD
@inourcingdisk21042 жыл бұрын
I get that, but it kinda pisses me off that he called this video "the hatching process that I use" but ended up not having a process at all, it was kind of just hatching with straight lines arbitrarily (direction wise), so it kind of gave me a "just hatch forehead" kind of feeling I'm sorry.
@stoopidtoaster60752 жыл бұрын
@@inourcingdisk2104 But that is literally the process? Straight hatched lines. It gives the cartoony feel to the art.
@왕새우-c8g2 жыл бұрын
This. Also to make the hatching lines look good, you need to know in which direction to lay down the lines, meaning you need that extra bit of dimensional knowledge to pull this off. May look like random straight lines to the untrained eye, but no single line is unintentional when it comes to professional artists. Love it.
@inourcingdisk21042 жыл бұрын
@@왕새우-c8g I'm an amateur and I can tell that he's trying to shade the entire drawing with vertical lines, I was just not happy that he didn't stick to just all vertical lines. I'm not going to argue that the final outcome looks great, I'm just saying, it would make me happier if he just didn't state that this is his "process" if he ended up not follow through the entire piece. If it's just called something like "daily sketch 711" this would be a 10/10.

So mostly what I noticed is the rule of Follow the Shape of The object with your hatching. Like around the yes you try to follow the shape of the eyelid be where it meets the brow line or turns into cheek it changes.

Hatching is just the absolute best. Like, it’s not uncommon but my god is it satisfying when it falls into place. And the beautiful texture and ability to grasp subtleties in any shaded surface. Arguably the best technique I’ve developed in my own art and amazing to see in others :) Beautiful piece by the way ❤️

The neck actually looks like more of a stylistic choice to me rather than a fault since as a whole, this drawing is stylized in its proportions.
@__________________________91902 жыл бұрын
Oh- I just realized the neck is thin-
@shamaraaraujo32042 жыл бұрын
@@math1937 it's stylized, but it follows realistic proportions to the face, so it's kinda weird to look at her and see a thin neck like that, it looks like a goose with human face. Dunno, it just didn't fit the style, just like Sara Tepes art from a while ago (she used to draw really thin necks, but she does a semi realistic art, so it was uncomfortable to look at those beautiful faces she does with the goose necks), but she changed it and now her art is way more proportional than it used to be back then. The art here is great tho, but I can't say it fits the style.

Extremely beautiful art, I can tell the artist is very skilled with line weight and pencil control. Hopefully one day I'll be as good too. One tip, though: don't use your finger to blend the shading like that. Your skin, especially your fingers, have oils in them that can damage the artwork if you do it too much. A paper stomp is better, but if you don't have that any fine paper will do, like tissue/toilet/kitchen paper :)
@thunderclanwarrior12532 жыл бұрын
@W.D. Gaster no, but a substitute for a paper stomp is tissues, toilet paper, or kitchen paper towels Idk what the last one is called, can't remember, but basically just any one of those three will work instead of a paper stomp in a pinch :)
