No other filmmaker writes dialogue like Quentin Tarantino. He’s probably the only modern Hollywood director who could make a movie like this, that takes place in basically one location, and have the characters just talk for like 2 hours and still have it be very entertaining. He’s one of a kind and my favorite filmmaker.

This is like a return to Reservoir Dogs (mostly one location, everyone talks, everyone dies). Both could be a stage play (and in fact, QT could have easily made this for the stage). Very much like a murder-mystery - like old Agatha Christie novels (which also became stage plays and/or movies), where not everyone tells the truth but eventually everything becomes clear. We don't get many of these anymore but they're part of a a long tradition in cinema.

Fantastic movie. Ennio Morricone, who composed the soundtrack finally won an Oscar after scoring many legendary movies (including "The Dollars" trilogy with Clint Eastwood), some portions of the soundtrack were borrowed from The Thing which also stars Kurt Russell. That was a 150 year old, $40,000 guitar that they destroyed accidentally. The actress's reaction of surprise "Wait! Tarintino definitely has a unique style to his movies. Most of the actors and actresses love being in his movies because they get to actually act. Also if you perform well in a tarintino movie you are always asked to come back for a future project of his. He looks after them and thats why we see the same actors in all of his movies.

You might notice that, in the flashback sequence, Minnie never mentioned Bob being Mexican. Warren was doing the same thing he did in the barn, when Bob corrected him about the tobacco Minnie uses - he didn't know Bob was lying because Minnie hates Mexicans, he knew Bob was lying because Minnie _doesn't_ hate Mexicans, and Bob didn't correct him. If he was actually put in charge, he'd have known that.
@kalt7990
@kalt7990 3 ай бұрын
Is that an alternate theory or is that confirmed in the movie? I always just assumed Minnie's muted reaction to Bob was a plot hole. That would be pretty clever except Bob should know Warren was bluffing. Warren says the sign is gone because, "she started letting in dogs." Implying that Minnie still kept out Mexicans. Obviously Bob would know she doesn't and call Warren's bluff. She doesn't even act remotely racist for one that, "sure... don't like Mexicans."

One of the main themes (if not the main one) of Tarantino's works is revenge, those who watch his films already expect great scenes of cathartic revenge, I think that with the Major Warren and General Smithers scene he tried to play with the public's expectations. I believe the idea behind this is: I'm going to make the hero stoop so low in revenge that he becomes hated and the villain, who was once the detestable subject of the story, becomes the target of the viewer's pity. But I'm not going to do it in an obvious way, I'm going to make a black man who was enslaved kill a spoiled genocidal racist general and make the public think, because people hate genocidal supremacists, but they hate rapists more, and they hate even more rapists who report rape. to the victim's parents.

And when I finally found out why he'd slyly worked the phrase "hate fellate" into the title I almost barfed. I thought I was getting a great deal when I scored the DVD on Amazon for around five bucks, but I tossed it in the trash after one viewing. Tarantino at his absolute worst.
