They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What may seem an eyesore to one person, just might be a beautiful masterpiece to another. There are places beloved by communities and protected in the hearts of those that hold their memories of its tattered hallways and decayed rooms dear. This is the way that we feel when we explore places that have been forgotten by time. Left to rot and decay and only holding the silent whispers of what once was. We know that there are people out there with malicious intent toward these places that we venture into. It saddens us when we see the filth and destruction they leave behind, but we want to make something very clear… We are explorers and lovers of history. We in no way, shape or form condone the criminal activities that take place in the historical decaying places that we document. Social media has brought many of these places to the limelight, but the intention is to show the beauty and mystery of abandonment. Not to invite trouble. Trouble will find its way on its own and to say that the peaceful documentation of these places leads to criminal activity, is mind blowing. We have met so many amazing fellow explorers in our travels and are so thankful and humbled by the positive responses we have received. We know that this type of exploration is not for everyone…many people don’t understand why we find such beauty in decay, we can only explain it as a beautiful journey into the past. We invite you to watch our explores and come along as we visit these amazing places. As for the criminal activity that occurs, those individuals are responsible for their own actions. It is a terrible part of our society, but reality, nonetheless. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving this location just as much as we do. We hope that through this video, the memories held within will remain.

@Grapthar's Hebrew Hammer Wow!! You hit the nail on the head!! Yes the beauty of abandonment captivates us, but it is the memories that we are making together and the great people, like you, that we get to meet along the way, that make these places extraordinary!! I was born in Pittsfield Massachusetts which is not very far from this place. I moved to Kansas when I was 2 years old and finally got to move back to my birthplace of Pittsfield in the year 2000. This is a magical and majestic place and very haunted I've been here a couple times and it's got such an eerie vibe and some very noticeable energy. It's known as the bloody pit because of how many workers have died because the collapses fall making this tunnel. I myself had my own experience there voices, noises, and the noticeable energy around you. Not only is it haunted but it's beautiful and mysterious. What a great video it's nice to see this place again

@JMExplorations3 жыл бұрын
That sound at 3:24 is a total mystery. We were there alone, so that voice came from nowhere. The place where that sound came from was most definitely completely empty. It only goes back about 12 feet and when you enter, you can see the entire room before you. Definitely mysterious. The noise at 11:04 is a mystery as well, but could have been an echo from the tunnel itself. I'm going to have to go back and listen to it with headphones. As for weapons...nope. We do carry pepper spray on some of our explores, but we have never had to use it. We do appreciate your concern:)

That first place isn't the first tunnel attempt. It's an out housing for a compressed air tank.
@JMExplorations Жыл бұрын
We had researched extensively and would be interested to hear your source. One resource of ours was told verbally. A local told us about the first attempt and it’s positioning to the tunnel. The second was an excerpt from “A Pinprick of Light” page 13, 4th paragraph as well as a photograph on pages 29 and 51 that clearly show the positioning of the first tunnel attempt on the East Portal. The first attempt made it 10-12 feet, which is roughly the depth of the tunnel we explored and that you called us out on. Could it be that they utilized the failed attempt spot for a compressed air tank? If not, please cite your source so that we can do further research. We never claim to be experts, but we were confident of the information we gathered on this first tunnel site. If we are wrong, well, we still told the history of the first tunnel attempt, which was amazing, although a defeat, in and of itself, so we are happy to have given that piece of history to people who may never have known about that.
