I ❤❤❤❤ the opening credits to The Haunted Mansion too. SERIOUSLY it's on par with the opening love story sequence in UP. And the entire sequence in the opening credits of Haunted Mansion is done without a single line of dialogue. Everything is conveyed BRILLIANTLY thru the music and Mr Gracey's facial expressions.

I always found this movie funny growing up and I still do now. And that part where Ramsley is taken down to hell is honestly an interesting twist. When you think about it, evil spirits in other movies tend to terrorize the main protagonists and kill the innocent people. Instead, they go after the villain who earned his spot in hell for what he did.
@vetarlittorf1807 Жыл бұрын
I think the evil spirits were unrelated to that fire elemental. The curse was broken when the truth was revealed and everyone would go to their afterlives, so the elemental was not summoned by Ramsley. It was sent from hell to collect him.

@snarkus636 жыл бұрын
The Critic hit the nail on the head right out of the gate....Murphy was all wrong for this. But to be fair,I think any comedian would've been wrong for the lead. It's *The Haunted Mansion* ,not *The Zany Adventures Of (insert name here) In The Haunted House* !!! You'd expect the comic lead to give his all in a movie,which is why Murphy didn't work. As a fan of the attraction and its trademark phantasmagoria,that's what I'd expect such a movie to be about. The cast playing the poor hapless mortals who just happened to wander in one day should be expected to take a back seat,story-wise. Take a look at the first *Pirates Of The Caribbean* movie...how many specific references to the actual ride are in it? By contrast,this film went out of its way to cram in as much of the Mansion visuals as they could,hoping the audience would transfer its love for the source material to this movie. It didn't work.
@sewthernbelle6 жыл бұрын
snarkus63 maybe it would have been better if they cast a ton of comedians to play the ghosts? Like with the haunted mansions new storyline about the bride being a black widow? Maybe have the ghosts try to save the foolish mortals from the brides wrath? This movie is still a guilty pleasure for me, but I can admit it could be better.
@megelizabeth94926 жыл бұрын
I would really disney to take another stab (pun intended) at this. The haunted mansion is a storytelling engine, with it’s 999 Happy Haunts and just brimming with tantalizing hints of the many dropped plot threads that still managed to make it into the ride, and this is the story they come up with? I mean, come on, you can do better than that.

Taylor G I feel like the movie could of been better had there been a better script. I feel like Murphy WAS a good choice for the lead. But if I were to change up the movie a bit. Maybe have Murphy do his shtick of playing multiple characters instead of one then I feel like the movie could of been better. One of his previous movies Vampire In Brooklyn has a similar concept to this movie with a lot of horror overtones but still comedy in it. And even though that movie also wasn’t well received, what worked in its favor is that it had Murphy play multiple characters and that made the movie stronger. I feel like that if Haunted Mansion has done this it could of been a bit better.

Why does everyone hate on Eddy Murphy? I... just don't get it.
@ben_dover976 жыл бұрын
he’s just one of those people that are easy to hate like hitler and justin bieber. do people make them look more hateable than they should be yes but most people don’t like both... also people tend to judge celebrities off their social lives so murphy must of done something as hate-able as what bieber or hitler did. i for one don’t care for his social life what he does behind the camera is his own business as long as it’s not on the news... or written in history books i don’t nor should anyone care what celebrities do in their social life.

If I remember correctly, Guillermo Del Toro worked on a script for a remake of this movie for Disney. But from what I've looked up, Disney wanted to control the entire production and Del Toro isn't the type of filmmakers to take that shit, so the project got cancelled. From what I've also heard, Del Toro took the original ideas he made up for his Haunted Mansion remake and utilized them for Crimson Peak.

The Haunted Mansion should’ve been directed by Tim Burton, and only Tim Burton. So far he’s been known to make dark, whimsical stories to life. Just because he would’ve casted Johnny Depp and all the other reoccurring actors, the movie would’ve still been good. The husband in the beginning of the movie who claims they want a divorce, he comes off as a real dick and a person I always wanted to just give him lights out with an overdose of sleeping medicine. Edit: At scene 4:27 I kept expecting to see Count Olaf burst into the room, and yell in a gritty voice, saying: “Where’s my fortune, Baudelaire orphans? I want my ENORMOUS fortune! And you will give it to me now!”
@h193013 Жыл бұрын
If Tim Burton directed Madame Leota would have been played by Helena Bonham Carter. That would have been cool.
