@@HorrorBabble totally understand why that is the case. As a side comment here I have always been amazed and saddened that the wonderful work by Wilum Pugmire has not been made available as audio. He was a special author in my opinion and his passing not too long ago was a real loss. I have even thought about looking into crowd funding to try and get some of his work released as audio. There are a few short stories out there in audio and then the wonderful Morgan Scorpion, who I believe was his friend, has some readings. Anyway I know this is a bit off topic, I just wondered what you thought of his work

When Ian started to read and the story told of a remote and secluded area, and in addition to that, an old cemetery, I was sold! I was quickly submerged in the narrative. It is an amazing story simple but yet, intriguing. Ian's impressive voice and master of the English language makes this experience second to none. It was masterfully executed. I'm very grateful for this treat. Happy Halloween!

Great interpretation (as is the norm around here) the story, while entertaining, it was all over the place... Besides the cemetery and ghost, it had a secret passage that lead to the sea for some reason, it had witchcraft lore, scary movie production, scary tales books, a whole cthulhu chant and gigantic faces with shadows! JJ Abrams would make a movie out this one! 😆

I'm partly annoyed and covetous of the Lovecraft material because I've been a reader of his material for the last 32 years; ever since I found a copy of the necronomicon at a waldenbooks when I was 15. I'm like why the hell now? Same thing with my fascination with zombies going back to my fondest memories of the early to mid 80s. But I'm happy that Horrorbabble does a damn good read of everything I love in Gothic horror literature.

With the implication that the Cthulhu mythos stories are all fictionalized accounts of events that happened, I wonder how Harrod’s story was recorded considering his fate.

I feel like J. Vernon Shea watched an old-timey show in which the host dropped sardonic MST3K-style quips on old horror movies that J. Vernon was partial. In response, he was like, “Guess who’s about to get Lovecrafted for disrespecting my Bela Lugosi movie… YOU!” And this story is the product of that animosity.
