The Haywain Triptych is a panel painting by Hieronymus Bosch, one of the greatest artists of the Northern Renaissance. It is among the most famous examples of Christian art of the early 16th century, packed with symbolism and allegorical meanings. The work was one of a series of six paintings bought by Philip II of Spain in 1570. It is housed in the Museo del Prado, Madrid.

This is even more powerful to see based on reality of the world Today. A painting from a man who perceived this hundreds of years ago. Smh truly saddening. Especially when we have individuals perverting this same imagery and sacrificing ppls life, all ages, for his little piece of the Haystack.

"Ignorance is deliberate and intrinsically evil" - truer words have never been spoken. I wonder what Hieronymus Bosch would have painted if he lived in our days.

Byron Thomas, I'm just dumbfounded! You've done a great job! Such a detailed description and analysis. It sounds like a research work. No words to express my gratitude for helping me to look at works of art through different eyes. I saw this painting before, but I wasn't as much impressed as I'm now, after having watched your video. You have a gift, beyond any doubt. The selection of paintings, the video presentation, your voice and music, everything adds special colouring and creates a unique aura around a certain artwork. If I ever studied Art, I would like to have such a lecturer like you. I think, I'll watch this video a couple of times again. English isn't my mother tongue, so, I need to write out all "smart words" to understand everything better:) P.S. I'm from Ukraine. It would be very interesting for me to watch a video about a picture of one of Ukrainian artists some day, of course, if it's possible. Thank you so much again! Sorry for such a long comment.

@@ByronThomas Thanks a lot for your kind words. Today I've read about Mykola Burachek and checked out his paintings. In my estimation, you have very good taste in Art. Being just a beholder, I like the works of Kateryna Bilokur. Perhaps, it's because she loved flowers, as I do. And from the contemporaries my favourite one is Eugenia Gapchinska. Actually, I have no penchant for all those chubby angels with rosy cheeks. But when it comes to paintings by Gapchinska, I forget about that. I love her "Drinking Happiness" best of all. There's something that touches my soul in the works of those artists. Many thanks for responding to my comment. Looking forward to your new videos. Have a great weekend! P.S. Maybe, it'll be interesting for you: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqDIaXl8bamFkMk m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIWuhYSalJ6Jo5o

Thank you for the video! It seems that Hieronymus Bosch is to art as Friedrich Nietzsche is to philosophy. “It is my ambition to say in ten sentences what others say in a whole book.” Bosch made it happen with his art, it might take many artists with entire galleries to reach the level of detail and meaning. As to this specific triptych, I think that this represents the debasement of currency. The timeline fits to the age when the papal and royal banks would issue their own currencies and debase their value in gold. Also there is a hint to the Cantillon effect here, since the Pope and emperor and kings do not go for the hay, it is only for their subjects to attain (having created the "harvest" in the first place). With the hay they can only partake in debauchery and quackery. I do not wish to discount the religious perspective laid here, it also has its strong merit through temperance and strength of faith as pictured here quite beautifully.
