I loved every minute of this detailed description of one of the most fascinating works of art ever painted. Besides the text and the editing I would especially emphasize the quality of the music which gives so much color and life to this documentary. Thank you for sharing :)

Bosch was a genius. You have done justice to his masterpiece. As a long standing student of his, the wider context of his contemporaries which you give is outstanding. Whilst his works will never be fully understood, you have made it that little bit more tangible for me. Your production values are very impressive, particularly the seamless soundtrack. Am stunned overall. Thank you. Am curious as to your next project but understand if you wish to keep it under wraps.

I'm wondering if the man at 40:00 isn't the author himself. It is the only figure wearing clothes, and also the only one with actual features, not a generic round face with innocent eyes, oblivious to evil. His eyes look straight to us, like breaking the fourth wall, and the subtle smirk suggests that he's the only one to understand what's going on in this lost world. Renaissance painters are known to include self-portraits into such complex compositions, sort of "Easter eggs" that double as hidden signatures on their paintings.

No, just as Eve is covered in hair, that man is covered in hair as well, so thats probably Adam.

But now that you mention about authors putting themselves in the paintings looking at us, you have the tree-man in hell, and i think he is Bosch, if you compare him to his portrait (in which he looks old), you will notice his likeness.

I’m in the minority- I prefer the speed it’s at (which appears to be .75 ) as other episodes by this channel / narrator seem to be the same pace as this -when this is sped up by .25 to “normal”.. I actually chose to slow down the other Bosch presentations to enjoy them more! 😂🤗 I like the dreamy / altered state narration that to my ear, fits the painting marvelously. I guess that’s art though, right mates! However one can best enjoy the art! I have this reproduction- it’s fascinating- EVERYONE (who’s never seen a Bosch ) does the same thing- They initially see it, sort of double take and pretend to ignore it.. Invariably, ending up standing in front of it perplexed like the “RCA Dog” - then finally asking- “WTF IS THIS!!” 😂😂

Wow. This video is a masterpiece. It took me about ten minutes or so to slow myself down to listen. I then started over. Wow. I am altered from this guided tour. I had zero knowledge of the back story or previous art. I had been introduced to it in the mid 1970s with no history, therefore, until now I had a very cavalier opinion. Thank you!!!! I have a framed poster of this hanging a few feet away from me for a couple years now. I have studied it in varying degrees over the years and I am no closer to discovering its' "meaning". Frankly I don't want to know. It has not sullied itself with a discernible political message; It exists to be contemplated and puzzled over. I believe that is the essence of *true* creativity.

Curious what your thoughts are regarding the owl representing Lilith, the first female before Eve. She's also associated with Moloch and Babylonian Cult myths before the flood. I think it's curious that the owl sits on top of what looks like a Shiva in the center of the triptych, also deeply tied to this cult.

Absolutely moved by your interpretation Byron... I’m an artist as well, and find that awareness of our collective history is essential to living. At first, I was put off by the tone of your voice and the eerie instrumental accompaniment. Then, as we got into the concepts of Bosch’s work..I understood. This painting is a tragic one, yet, the hope is still found in the knowledge that a human being could conjure this vision (aware that they were under Devine Intervention). Your music reflects this theme, too. It sounds as if you referenced sounds across time and cultures (BRILLIANT)! I am working on a painted project this Summer that carries this theme of multiple figures in one “place.” I hope that you can check it out when I have completed it! Best of luck to you friend.

The final reflexion is very deep, believer or not, taking in mind all the references for his final product, and by the time when information was limited. it cause me shivers only to think this: "Maybe the garden of earthly delights it's just a product by the imaginary of Hyeronimous Bosch, but......¿¡if it's not!?" And suddenly my head explodes upon this last words: "Retribution demands no new beginnings, but misery everafter. An affirmative, and implacable sacramental movement, to bring down the curtain on humanity." Maybe that's what Bosch wanted to achieve over his audience, so many questions and so little answers, i like to think that everything is going to be revealed once we stare in front of that universal God whatever be his name.
