Let us not forget that a sinful woman was washing Jesus’ feet with her hair and tears. How she wept at her sin and repented and worshipped Him. She showed us how we should feel about our sin and cause us to weep at the feet of Jesus. Rather than the narrative being displayed to “love the sinner”. To truly love a sinner is to call them to repent and weep at His feet and sin no more.

The people in the ad getting their feet washed are generally people that conservatives look down on the actions of (illegal immigrants, aborters, etc). As expected, Matt Walsh completely misses the point of the ad. It's not about calling people to repent, it's calling out people who look down their nose at those groups. It is the one in power, the respected one who is washing the feet of the downtrodden; cop to (presumably) homeless black guy, pro-life protester to a woman going to planned parenthood, woman in white suburbia washing the feet of a newly arrived immigrant, the preacher washing the feet of a gay man, the oil field owner to the climate protestor. The one's getting their feet washed are the ones people/media tend to hate or quickly criticize. With a message of: Jesus didnt teach hate, it's reminding us when Jesus said: "That which you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me." and "I come not to be served, but to serve" This ad wasnt for sinners to be called to repentance, it was a message to the Christian Pharisees out there who love looking down their nose at people at the bottom of the totem pole! It's only a scandal on the Evangelical white nationalist side of KZbin, just to be clear lol

Even in my Orthodox parish, some newer to the faith young folks are accepting of things they should not be, because they were soaked in the secular humanistic world in school & college and haven't encountered any reason to shed that stuff. They need time to learn. I also am newer to the Orthodox church, but I have been a Christian since 1976, and I have already experienced what they still need to learn. It's not easy to leave it ALL to follow Jesus.

I think almost everyone, believers and nonbelievers alike, could find common ground with this ad. It’s complete BS. No Christian would ever take the time to comfort the afflicted, just look at all the comments in THIS video. How upset people are at the suggestion that we should be kind to anyone going through something awful like drug abuse or homelessness or still dressing like a punk rocker.

Jesus dying on the cross for us was his ultimate testimony that he loves us.... not the feet washing....
@RanMouri8211 ай бұрын
Though there is an inherent connection, since washing His disciples' feet after the Passover meal was a precursor to baptism, which is connected with His suffering and death on the Cross. That's why baptism means dying and rising with Jesus.

Perhaps the ad is misguided. However maybe it is trying to make a simple blanket statement to love and accept one another. The show compassion to people even if they come from wayward lifestyles. I'm not necessarily saying tolerate sinful behavior, but rather approach it with compassion rather than hate or harshness.

I saw it as a prolife woman washing the feet of a post abortive younger woman as a great witness of the Rachel's Vinyard ministry. There are Christian prolife ministries that cate for and assist post abortive women on their journey towards repentance and reconciliation.

Geesh, we sure do waste a lot of paper then, apparently we could have just been printing flash cards with John 3:16 on them and skipped the rest of the book, yeah?

When I saw the commercial, I was more under the impression that the person whose foot was being washed was being forgiven, not the other way around, although it seems like others didn’t really get that impression so maybe I’m wrong
@Teresia1211 ай бұрын
Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. That commercial doesn't get him. That did nothing for Christianity. That warps it as much as the self righteous hypicrits in the church do. The damage done saddens me. It's why we are the most disrespected religion on earth.

You don't cut people's head off anymore, either. Interesting correlation. Any criticisms of Islam on TV lately?

We're hated because the non-believers hated Jesus first. That's why they're promoting a false image of Him in an attempt to shame and undermine Christians.
